The Eye of the Storm

Ophelia saw the forestkiller that Mitch had immobilised and ran over. She flexed her tail and stabbed the creature with the spike on the end. It cried out, then lay still. Black blood covered her tail.

She watched the silver dragon. He has very good stamina; he's not tiring at all. She cocked her head. But who is he?

The dragon started to couugh up blood, "oh for...not now!" He growled bitterly.

This guy is really good at this! Zephyr was amazed by the good techniques of fighting those plants. He then flew as high as he could, then he went downwards with incredible speed, crushing one of the plants to the ground. At least there's something I can do. he thought.

"Oh my!" Ophelia trotted up to the silver dragon as he retched. "Are you OK?"

"It's nothing...I just have random heart attacks. Kinda why I was hesitent to join." He said truthfully. "Now, for my question...is there anyone here by the name of..." he paused, thinking, "Opheila?"

Ophelia gasped. Do I know him? She thought back many years. I can't remember him from my childhood...

"Y-Yes that's me. Can I help you?"

"Well, that was quick..." He sighed somberly, "As much as I hate to say it, I've been hired to assasinate you. I don't know who it is, I was just contacted a few hours ago." He got into a battle stance, "I hate killing females, but my life is made from the death of others..."

"Huh? What?!" Ophelia backed away, her eyes wide in terror. "Y-You can't be serious! Why?! What did I ever do to you?! What did I do to anyone?!"

"I won't let you do that!" Zephyr was shocked that someone who helped them now wants a life in exchange. "I can give you all the gold you want, and so does Mitch, he told you. What do you get when you complete this task?" Zephyr grunted. He protected Ophelia for some reason, he didn't know why.

"If I didn't have to, I wouldn't. Gold isn't worth it...I'd loose my ranking." the dragon looked away, but it was hard to tell if was or not becuase his eyes had no pupils and were just a complete light amber color, "I promised to do whatever job came ahead of me...I swore on a grave." He then looked at Zephyr, "Don't make it harder than it already is."

Realizing that he was stalling, he sighed and quickly leaped over Zypher and in front of Ophelia, "I'll give you a second for last words."

Ophelia couldn't believe what was happening. "B-But... how could you want to do this to me?! I don't even know you! I've never done anything to you!"

Her fear was suddenly combined with anger. "Your kind make me sick! Killing for money no doubt aren't you? Do you even have a heart?! ARE YOU A DRAGON AT ALL?!" She raised her lip and snarled.

".,...*bleep* it." He growled, turning away. "Maybe ther eis another way...meh, I don't suppsoe you can just stop breathing, can you? Even for an hour? Or just never be seen again?" He said, begining to walk away.

"Don't be stupid! I'm not gonna stop doing anything for a cretin like you! I bet you really enjoy it don't you? Is killing innocent people fun? Does it give you a thrill?"

A loud growl came from her throat as he walked away. "I'm not going anywhere! These woods are my home. They have been since I was a child. I've escaped death many times, but I refuse to die under the hands of a COLD HEARTED MURDERER!" She suddenly screamed.

She took a few deep breaths to try and calm herself down. The fear was gone now, only rage remained. "So... why don't you get out of our sight? What a fool I was to think we were gonna be friends. Silly, naive little me."

At that she turned away calmly and walked off into the forest, leaving them all behind. Silent tears fell from her eyes.

The dragon, Ornlu, let the words bounce off of him as he was paying attention to the trees. He did, however, get the rough idea of it and said, "I'll say I found you dead." he said, leaving.

(He has ADD, forgot tput that)

"That was close..." Zephyr was amazed. He really thought he was most definately going to kill Ophelia. "It's like you did something to him so he didn't want to kill you anymore. How did you do that?"

It's like he likes her too much, or maybe even loves her. he thought. That's it, she's too beautiful for him to kill. That may come in handy...

"So, they flee." Zephyr said. "That Dragon did a great job. And you guys as well!" he gave a quick smile to Ophelia and Mitch. "So, shall we continue or shall we stay here for a time, so we can find something to eat?" he said that, as if he read Ophelia's mind (( smile ))

Ophelia was still trembling slightly from her ordeal, but she nodded in agreement. "If you boys don't mind, I'm going to go hunting by myself. I need a moment alone. I'll come back to you later."

At that and without another word, she bounded off into the forest. After a short while she came across a small, shallow stream. She smiled sadly and sat beside it. Hundreds of thoughts at once flowed through her mind.

...Someone out there wants me dead. was her main thought. But why? I've never made any enemies. I've never deliberately hurt anyone...

She sat staring at the stream's calm flowing water for a while. She thought of the silver dragon. ...Why did he turn out the way he is? Was he always like this? What made him take this path in life?

She sat until she had cleared her mind. She stood up and after sharpening her claws on a log, she crept through the trees in search of a meal.

"Half the reason why I didn't kill you was becuase I don't like fighting females." the dragon said, perched on a tree once more, "You're free. I described you perfectly and said that your throat was slashed. Try laying low a bit just in case someone comes looking."

Ophelia jumped and looked up. Oh no... She put on a brave face and looked up at him. "Tell me honestly, who asked you to do this? Who wants me dead? I need to know, so then I can make sure I stay away from them."

Ophelia watched him leave and then continued on her hunt. So... he'll find out right? I hope he tells me the truth.

At that moment she froze. She scanned the ground. Bingo! Tracks! Surely enough, she was right on the creatures trail. Hooves as well... I may just get us a feast, not just a meal.

She crept on for a few more minutes. The air was much cooler now and the orange glow of sunset had now began to fade.

Then, she froze again as she reached a clearing. A large buck stood munching on some grass, completely oblivious to her presence.

Oh wow... aren't you a beauty? She thought smirking.
