Re: DragonForce(Rules)
TAH-DUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!
I'm late!
DragonForce ftw guys! I like them very much, they have the best music ever! My favourites are most definately Where Dragons Rule (remix/bonus version from VotD, I like the other version as well, but it is not my fave. #4 to be exact), EPM and of course Through the Fire and the Flames. I listen them every day and I play audiosurf with those songs (nvm if you dunno what that is). Although I am not rly a very big fan of them, I love their music. Also, I was planning to go to a live thingy of them in Germany, but I failed
.
I like ZP Theart (middle front) and Herman Li (left) the most. As your post refers to "fans only", you can consider me as a fan
Inhuman Rampage and Sonic Firestorm are most definately their best albums.
>>>As Exspected<<< @Naegling: You are right very far away... they're all Power Metal and you can find them sound alike, but if you just listen good to them or very much (like me), you can separate them easily from each other.
You should check this out. I've made my own simfile from WDR. Comment plz!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOeZGZmQGEo This is the [glow=green:74f1a19b91]easy[/glow:74f1a19b91] mode, I've made a [glow=red:74f1a19b91]HARD[/glow:74f1a19b91] mode which contains a way more difficult step pattern than this (especialy while there's no singing). For Stepmania and the simfile, ask/PM me.
How I found DragonForce: I've heard the name before, while youtubing I saw a lot of banned videos with "Through the Fire and the Flames", which made me curious. There I found the original vid. I liked it very, very much and immediately searched for more songs and downloaded them. Then I listened them every day and I loved it (and I still do!), later I heard them even sometimes on the radio. Ultra Beatdown Tour was my first chance for a concert in Germany but for some private reasons it was cancelled.
Okay, I planned not to do this, but my love for the band and my [glow=red:74f1a19b91]EVILNESS[/glow:74f1a19b91] told me to do so.

Re: DragonForce(Rules)
I knew you'd be here. and even though they do sound alike i can tell the songs apart.
I have a question for you MrX-link. Is there a song by dragonforce called "Cry of the Brave"? I saw a video and the end credit song was a song that sounded like dragonforce and it said that the song was called cry of the brave. I tried to find the song but i never could. can you clear this up for me?

Re: DragonForce(Rules)
Acctualy i have a counter example! Not all their songs sound the same! Liston to their Valley of the *bleep* and then Heros of our time. The reason people thing dragon forces must sounds the same its the heavy drumming. Thats one thing that makes DragonForce.......DragonForce! I love how david plays the drums and how fast he is at it..... Infact the drumming is my favorite parts between some of the guitar solos. I have almost every song of theirs except the newest album......

Its the first song in the video. it sounds like something that dragonforce would do and it says in the end credits that its called cry of the brave.

Re: DragonForce(Rules)
that's the lyrics... the lyrics don't determine sound in any band at all.
you could have Dragonforce singing about sitting on a boat and fishing with someone, or battling snowflakes for the justice of dragons, and they could still sound the same..... just like you could have 2 songs, both about battling snowflakes, and they could be completely different. [one could be a country song, and the other could be death metal!]
it's not quite THAT clear in Dragonforce, but it's still clear. just compare "Through The Fire And Flames" to "Revolution Deathsquad"... Revolution Deathsquad is faster-paced, the solos are way different, etc.

It's wrong.
It's called "Once in a Lifetime".
Also, there's rly a diference between, for example, Starfire and TtFatF. Listen to them and you know what I mean

-.=.- seriously? If you dont notice, they like to sing about battles and glory days of the Renaissance and dark ages, But their music is different. Thats like saying Rap is music. Which it isnt. It is a poem, or alot of rymeing with almost the same repetitive beat maybe the beat rises or lowers in the song. Music isnt all about they lyrics. Its about the melody caused by instruments and or sounds that moves in octaves. Look at instramental music, Would u say it isnt music because they dont sing? Dragonforce does repeat some of their lines from the song LIKE MANY SONGS DO!

Re: DragonForce(Rules)
C'mon ey, they do have nice lyrics and their music is awesome. They mostly sing (imo) about great battles, war, heroes, DRAGONS... The lyrics have words that are alike, but that will not tell you that the songs are alike. TtFatF is about hope, and that they must carry on, need to gather all their courage. WDR is about the power of Dragons and also about battles, EPM is just all of it, mostly meant for the music. Black Winter Night is also about battle, in which is no more hope, so a more sad one. Listen carefully to the lyrics and not only to those words, counting them to convince me of it that it is alike all the time, and you know what I mean. Yeh they use same words often, so what? Like DPX said, all songs do!

Re: DragonForce(Rules)
Its not only the lyrics though. Their music is very similiar. Now don't get me wrong there are some songs that are good like, Cry of Eternity and Through the fire and the Flames. The biggest problem I've got with them is their lack of structure in the music and how the act like they are the best when really all of their songs are done in a studio and they can't replicate own music on stage.

Re: DragonForce(Rules)
Structure to their music. A VERY good example is that song Where dragons rule. Starts off with a piano playing in a slow way. Then out of no where comes some ridiculous guitar playing and fast drums. Just doens't fit in. Also their songs just involve really fast playing, then stupidly long guitar solos all the way through. I mean guitar solos are great so long as they are used in moderation. Unfortunately they seem to miss this point when they are writing their songs.
EDIT: Another song that has a dubious structure, is operation ground and pound. At 2:37 they do what would definetely be an outro, yet they keep playing :S. Same happens at 4:20

Re: DragonForce(Rules)
That's one of the only problems with them, they are very talented but they lack creativity slightly. But you know what, I don't care. I love DragonForce and I don't care what other people say. Playing fast works for them and also if you actually read the first post, you would've seen fans only, and seeing as you're NOT a fan, please leave.
