Re: Do you believe in Dragons?
hm... I'm not sure.
see, I'm a scientist at heart, but I'm not afraid to dream. from the dreamer's perspective they could very well exist, from the scientist I get that the possibility of them existing and us having not found them yet is very slim. I have considered both sides, and decided that I will do neither untill their is conclusive proof. if you have an arguement about how dragons do exist, I will sit and take it seriously, but I will not make any decisions regarding whether they exist or not until there is sufficient proof for me. as it is, there is no evidence that dragons existed, but there is similarly no evidence that they did not exist.
I will bide my time. (:)

Re: Do you believe in Dragons?
Of course. I joined the forums because of my belief in dragons.

Re: Do you believe in Dragons?
Well, I think that figuratively, dragons exist, but as actual creatures existing on Earth, they don't. Their ability to fly violates the Square-cube law (and magic doesn't exist in the real world, so that can't help them, either). Also, the ability of a creature to combust whatever it breathes out without burning its throat or choking on its own smoke is obviously debatable.

Re: Do you believe in Dragons?
I believe that there is a possibility they might exist. There are many clarified facts... err... rumors that are out there mainly in art and literature that originated from a possible source. Now that may beg a question of when this source was written or drawn as well as others. I'm part science part faith type of person. I take the saying "Anything is possible. You just need to find a way to make it happen." seriously by that extent since I'm the part science part faith type of person. Plus, I can't help but be curious and want to understand these creatures.

Re: Do you believe in Dragons?
They are dragons living in the past, why.
Both Dragons and Pterodactyls both share the same characteristics (the only exception is that some dragons breath fire and some don't and Pterodactyls don't).
I think some newbie Fossil hunters may have pick some dragon bones and mistaken them for Pterodactyls bones.

Re: Do you believe in Dragons?
...Nice, but to be honest, most people think (and say it is true) that a dragon is a mix between a lizard, an eagle and a bat.
But yeah, I can believe that there were ancient dragons far, far in the past.
@ a guy: who says magic doesn't exist? we haven't discovered it yet. I personally think they do exist irl on earth.
If I ever meet one (a friendly one I hope) I will try to understand him/her/it as good as possible, but I think I'll keep it a secret. Only for ME. If Dragons do really exist in the form they appear in games/books/art, I would never tell it to anyone. Why not? I am almost absolutely sure people will hunt them if they look too dangerous.

Re: Do you believe in Dragons?
If I saw a fearsome-looking dragon and (somehow) befriended it, and someone wanted to kill it, I would take that man's weapon and say "I call head-shot!! *pulls trigger at would-be dragon hunter and kills him*" I think I know why dragons don't exist in the modern world, they were killed of just before the the end of the Medieval times. Personally, I think that Komodo Dragons are actually dragons that evolved without wings or the ability to breath fire.

This reminds me of something Fletch_Talon (a guy I liked to debate with) once said (not an exact quote, just a rough idea):
I have toys in my room that come alive when no one's looking, just because no one's seen them come to life, doesn't mean they don't, I swear they do!

Re: Do you believe in Dragons?
I don't think they exist today, but they may have existed in the past. I'm guessing that a dragon's fossil (apart from the wings) is similar to that of a dinosaur. Their skulls definitely will.
And like Dragon119 said, they may have been mistaken for the bones of a Pterosaur or a dinosaur. Palaeontologists may have found parts of a dragon and said, "Oh look, another Raptor skull."
And all those legends, are they all just stories? I guess we'll never know.

Re: Do you believe in Dragons?
thay could be real that could be more advanced and hiding among us we would never know your neighbor could be one O.o i could be one but you would never be able to tell
because we could use like more hightech gagets and stuff due to already having said tech because were older and wiser no one could ever tell and as for magic think about it if man controle the elements this world would no longer exsist but what if the magic is still here and the dragons if there are in secret controle it hmmm think about that ^^

Re: Do you believe in Dragons?
We've been to pretty much every place on Earth. They don't exist.
In that case, I am actually the greatest superhero alive.. I hide my identity very well, but I actually defeat hordes of alien invaders before Earth even has a chance to see them, and appear back at where I was in less than a second.

Re: Do you believe in Dragons?
If any dragons still exist today, they must be able to either
1. disguise themselves as humans, or
2. make anyone who encounters them forget about the experience.
long story short, if they are still around, they simply don't want to be found. can't see as I blame them.
Humanity is destroying the only planet that even took the time to make sure life was able to exist, so I understand why they would hide. I wouldn't mind joining them. ![]()

Pretty much does absolutely not mean the same as everywhere. You think too realistic and I think you go more to the scientific part of existance of Dragons. If you don't think they exist, fine. But they do, oh yes they do!

Re: Do you believe in Dragons?
Bah, I've always wanted to believe in magic. I'm just grounded in reality because I'm very fond of debating things with others and I'm used to pointing out certain laws to prove my point.

I can see why you're saying this, but here are some things that were once considered "proven facts":
The earth is flat.
the cosmos revolve around the earth.
time is unchanging.
bathing is unhealthy.
need I continue?
a true scientist would think like Einstein: if the theory doesn't fit the set standards, don't question the theory, question the standards themselves. We keep thinking we understand something, then find out that our ideas are completely and totally wrong.

Re: Do you believe in Dragons?
Yes, but back then, they didn't have modern science. Also, as for the cosmos revolving around the Earth, the church punished those that said otherwise. Bathing was considered unhealthy because no research went into it. The earth was considered flat because no one circumnavigated the Earth. Time unchanging? So blatantly wrong, it's a joke. Please cite a source that states when these were considered "proven facts."
And please, continue.
