In a way, I'm kind of glad they came along, because if they didn't, TLoS wouldn't exist.

I used to be equal to both. I loved aspects of both games and the graphics of the newer version were so much better as well as the fact that you could fly. But the new one is really starting to put me off with all of the Cynder fan-tards. So yeah, my vote goes to the original Spyro now.

frankly, I think they both have problems. we don't need to decide whether the old or the new spyro is better, because they both have some flaws that need working over. what we need to do is combine the two to get a Spyro that doesn't have the lack of personality of the new spyro and actually moves fluidly unlike the old spyro.
in short, whe have two designs, but neither really fits the bill. we need a third design to plug up the holes.

Here is the list of reasons why I like the new Spyro and dislike the old Spyro:

New; (from ANB)

Graphics: Great and pure.
Level play: More like a Spyro game should be.
Characteristics: Horns better, body like a 10 year-old dragons should look like, eyes have a purple ring around it unlike old Spyro which looked like he got a black eye from being punched in the eye, wings although small they are the size they should be for a 10 year-old dragon (just look at baby birds their wings are tiny compared to their size), head a little big but that is what strong neck mussels are for.
Elements: Fire, electricity, ice, earth.
Personality: Curious, aggressive only when threatened, serious and mature.
Characters: Guardians who think of Spyro as a hero after he saves the dragon race, new Sparx who can actually talk and make notable comments, Cynder who LoS fans love.

Result: A Legend of Spyro fan.

Old; (from AHT to first Spyro game)

Graphics: Poor, lacking in detail.
Level play: Too few enemies, too much gem collecting and not enough action.
Characteristics: Horns too strait, body like a dog that....wait is that Clifford the Big Red Dog? Eyes look like old Spyro got punched by Gnasty, wings look like someone tore it off of some pterosaur (flying reptile), head too small if you ask me.
Elements: Fire, ice(in YotD)
Personality: Too fun-filled for players who want realistic personalities, always wanting action, takes nothing seriously and imature.
Characters: Flame a red dragon that does nothing but stand all day, Ember the pink dragon who is very 'oh I love Spyro sooo much that I can't wait for us to get married or become mates' obsessive with Spyro, Hunter a weird 2-D cat from a dimension someplace unknown.

Result: Someone who keeps wondering why people like a dragon who doesn't know what to do next but to walk around in circles until a living marshmello man with six legs, a tail a mile long and a foul breath that is responsible for global warming from another dimension appears out of nowhere and then starts melting for no reason and then starts speaking in Russian then disintergrates and making Spyro wonder why.

Okay, then I'll state MY opinion-

For one, I agree with you entirely on the whole 'characters' thing for original Spyro; Those were entirely insignificant and weren't needed at all. But that wasn't original Spyro. That game was not made by Insomniac, and the three Insomniac games are the ones that people love. As for all of the crap games afterward, most of us don't like them.

Of COURSE the original Spyro's graphics are bad- the original trilogy was made in the 90's. I don't see why anyone would think that graphics has anything to do with the game it self's quality.
As for the ACTUAL quality of the games...

LoS- Repetitive. You fight horde after horde after horde of frigging monkeys. DotD *tried* to make it better by adding little activities like with the sand bags, but it ended up just being really annoying and it makes the two players just argue. DotD did have beautiful graphics, but like I said, that doesn't made a good game. Neither does casting famous people as the characters. The characters themselves are completely flat and lifeless. Pretty much everyone was a Mary Sue. Spyro would do anything for you if you convinced the gullible shizhead that you have good intentions and told him it's in the fugging purple dragon prophecy. He goes into everything fearlessly because he DOESN'T THINK THINGS THROUGH. He just goes off to save the world without any questions asked! That's not being a true hero- that's just being stupid. Cynder could have been a decent if fanservice and the fans themselves hadn't completely raeped her character.

...what the hell? A /SPYRO/ game is one that's made by the people who actually created him. Not some dumb fugging company that bought him out.

....Like I said, the enemies in LoS are TOO endless.
I thought gem collecting was a fun little side quest. You don't HAVE to get all the gems (there are so many that just by walking around and going through the levels you don't have to go back to get more to pay money bags/satisfy the balloonist), unlike LoS where you need them if you want to breath ANYTHING (dumbest idea ever) or live or upgrade your stupid powers. The combat (melee combos) are so pointless, too. I just found myself constantly running around and getting the green gems so that I could use the breaths.

Err, in conclusion, your post just doesn't make much sense to me, and it just sounds like you're basing your opinions on graphics (in which LoS has an unfair advantage of being made ten years later than the originals) and your bias with the LoS series. Yes, I'm biased as well, but I also didn't just make up sh**.

Ever thought about the technological development between 1998 and 2009? Think about it. I think you shouldn't compare original with legend looking at graphics, what you are maily doing.
If you are searching for realistic personalities, play a realistic game.
Gems, gems gems! who doesn't like collecting them? You, of course...
Totally disagree with the fact that spyro 1 has too less action. DotD has too much action sometimes, according to me.
The dog body is rubbish, not true.
Horns can be straight or not, depending on what sort of dragon you're looking at. Spyro's original form had a little bit bended horns, and that is how he was supposed to look.

I'm sorry..... lol.. this has just ruined my day.... lol... and it just started 13 minitues ago... lol... this whole day is just going to be all crap now.... going off of the last weeks momentum I though that this was going to be another good day.... but a Base splitting Fight has just ruined my Sunday.... before it even really started too smile lol...
