Favorite Guns.

Many of us guys, and maybe some girls, like guns.
It's in our blood. I think.

I love guns. So I made this topic here, because I am curious to see what
your favorite weapons are.

I'm talking about hand-held weapons. Not turrets, cannons, miniguns, etc.

I'll start off by sharing with you the weapons I love most.
[Use a Spoiler, and use pictures.]

Many people get the name of the M1 Bazooka wrong, using its name for any
shoulder-fired rocket launching system. This here is the real Bazooka.

Re: Favorite Guns.

Yes, you like the M60. Hahah, yes.

One thing I hate is that even though the M82 and M107 are anti-material
weapons [meaning, anti-light armor], game creators still use them in
games for one-shot anti-personnel weapons. Ugh. But it is a hand-held
weapon, and it is amazing. Good choice. But what is your favorite
anti-personnel rifle?

The MP7 looks like a modern version of both a MAC-10 and a UZI.
It looks cool, too. But what kind of sight is that?

Re: Favorite Guns.

wow , here we see the Americans of this forum :-p
but I like guns too , for fun on games only , and remember that we are not that bad in France for gun traffic...shame on us ! smile
It's in our blood , yes , because without them we didn't survive long in the past , and the man choose to fight for conquest the Earth , we can't ignore weapons , even if we are pacific , remember what Cesar says about peace...
"who want the peace , prepare the war" (home traduction :-p )
Anyways , I use mostly hand guns in games , I like the single action army , old but cool weapon , and the Mk-22 of Marines (EDIT: go see the pics in the spoiler) , but I like the M60 too (edit: and the M63 , the same family of gun) , and the FAMAS , that French assault rifle who is used on the front now by us , yes we can invent good weapons too :-p
I will edit this post to give you the pics soon (:)
EDIT : here they come !

About the MP7, I don't 100% know what kind of sight that is, but I can guess it's either a small ACOG scope or a precision reflex red dot sight like the G36 uses (G36 standard, G36E has a scope I think)

I can't believe I missed my most beloved weapon ... the Sprinfield M14. A
rifle that I would be okay with sleeping with.

And yes, if I had an M14, I would sleep with it.

Re: Favorite Guns.

In all honesty my favorite gun, or should I say kind of gun, is probably a sniper rifle, prefferably .50 cal, just unrivaled power per weight when you get right down to it (excluding rocket launcher of course, but then again a rocket launcher isn't exactally what i call a gun, or a bazooka, but thats just me)

So yeah, .50 cal sniper because if that thing hits you in the arm from any distance you won't have an arm left.

Purple Dragon King was a name I developed over time as I began to go from closet Spyro fan to open Spyro fan. It has significance to me not just because of Spyro but it is also my favorite color and my first girlfriend called me by PDK. So next time you see my post think of the king of purple!!!!!!!

[Wow, I'm just repeating myself] .50 caliber rifles such as the
Barret M107 and M82 are anti-material rifles. They are not made to kill
people.

If you have seen the movie Hurt Locker, when the team is sniping with
the .50 caliber rifle at far distance, it isn't truly what soldiers do. Soldiers
more often use a more accurate rifle [hence them missing a lot of shots]
to take out their targets. Now ... if it's the only scoped rifle available,
that's a different story. But I want to let you know that sniper rifles similar
to the Barret .50 caliber rifle family isn't meant for taking out soldiers.

If you want a reliable and strong sniper rifle, look at the M24 Sniper
Weapon System.

"Referred to in The Echelon Vendetta as 'a Remington .308', the official
title for this superb sniper system is the Remington M24; Based on the
classic Model 700, this military version fires either the 7.62 Nato or
the .300 Winchester Magnum from a five-round magazine. Usually fitted
with a Leupold ten-power scope, this bolt-action rifle has an effective
range of around 800 yards and , in the hands of a skilled shooter, this
rifle is one of the most-effective anti-personnel weapons in existence. Ask

Re: Favorite Guns.

I would love to have an M14 carbine. you know, the one from WWII? may be old, but if it ain't broke...

anyways, I saw a show on the military channel about a new gun they just started producing. It's a grenade launcher that fires smart shells that the gun can make to explode right inside a window, eliminating enemy cover without causing collateral damage. the best part, however, is that in less than two minutes(for the two marines on the show, in 1 minute 43 seconds big_smile ) it can be converted to a machine gun that fires .50 cal bullets. it's got so little kick, the guys were actually able to have a glass of water on top of it when they fired it, and it didn't spill. best of all, the whole thing, spare parts and all, weighs about ten pounds, so you could theoretically fire it from the hip.
doesn't count as gun like you said, but I still think it's cool.

Re: Favorite Guns.

The Springfield M14 is from Vietnam era, by the way. But about the
turret ... yeah, I've heard about that before. They said that it has two
ammunition belt feeds so that two types of ammunition can be fired. And
it is compatable with many things, from hummers to tanks [A light tank
such as a Bradley].

Re: Favorite Guns.

I have always seen the H&K MP5 as a modern version of a Tokyo Marui
Thompson M1A1.  They look alike, fire 9mm rounds, and are [or were]
used by the Americans.

What I mean as "look alike," I mean that they have the general shape.

Do you own one?

You're a WW2 buff and you don't know where the Mosin Nagants came from? They were developed in the Soviet Union to find an equal equivalent to the German Kar97k which revolutionized bolt action on standard rifles.

Anyways I would have to say that my favorite weapons of all time as a history buff would be the M1 Garrand, the AK-47, the STG-44 (MP-40), and my good old M-16 (prone to jamming if you don't take care of it but that's why you take care of it ^^).

I also like the good old Colt-45, some nice knockdown power to it, and the Scoped Lee-Enfield Rifles were considered the most accurate sniping weapons in the world at one point.
