Excluding labour. 1500 man hours. How much time can you spare a day?

Re: General Discussion - 2
Well if I were to build such a thing it would be when I have a job, so I would probably have 2 hours to spare a day meaning... 75 days. Not that bad really.

No, 750 days. 1500/2 = 750. Over two years.

Re: General Discussion - 2
Again, I say, if someone wants to exercise some power, they can restrict the food that the Africans can grow. Not everything is simple.
Morality means nothing - especially since Africans will still be starving.
EDIT: Do you see Africans starving because they're raising meat? No, it's because they're not doing any agriculture at all.
Also, just to show you why morality doesn't mean anything...
Let's say there are two generals. One general is merciful. Another general is brutal.
The merciful general tries to kill as little as possible. He imprisons troops that he spares. Because of this, he diverts soldiers from the front lines to guard them. And there's always a chance of a prison break. He also spares factories, farms, and the like, allowing the brutal general's people to stay self-sufficient - there's still the chance for a rebellion.
But the brutal general doesn't have such mercy. He kills as many troops as he can - except maybe one or two, to torture them, get intel from them. He's a master at scorched earth tactics, destroying factories, burning down crops, destroying water pipes, and destroying or sabotaging power plants. The merciful general's people are starving because of the brutal general's tactics, and so are his soldiers. That's his goal - break the enemy.
Now, assuming otherwise equal commanding skills, equal forces, same advantages, and no intervention, who wins? The brutal general.

Re: General Discussion - 2
Who gains UN support? Heh heh... Morality is a bigger thing than you believe.
Do you really think some official is going to stop someone growing food for the sake of it? You have some ridiculously low opinion of them. Their democracy might be shoddy, their public services useless, but they aren't needlessly stupid. Where's the advantage in stopping someone growing food that you'll get tax from?
Also, Africans are growing their own food. What, you think they just sit out there waiting for pudsy the bear to come along with a cheque? The third world farms, the growing world (China specifically) industrialises, and the Western world does services. Which is pathetic, but worth a lot of money.

Re: General Discussion - 2
No, they're going to confiscate the food for money, you get paid more that way, since you're getting the moneyy directly. I wouldn't be surprised if another Charles Taylor popped up...
UN support isn't a guarantee, as the UN isn't looking to escalate the war. The worst that is likely to happen unless the brutal general is killing civilians outright are embargoes and sanctions, unless the war is directly threatening countries in the U.N.
That's rather ironic... scorched earth is perfectly okay but killing civilians quickly isn't.
EDIT: Iran isn't even a nuclear threat yet, and their military isn't the greatest. The U.N. has the potential to stop them in their tracks by invading. Do they do it? No.
Now think of someone with a lot more troops, tanks, cruise missiles, bombers, all the latest bells and whistles. They aren't a nuclear threat. What are the chances of anything being done? The U.N. won't get into every single war.

Re: General Discussion - 2
But the Africans can grow food for themselves. That's another point you've been ignoring.
If you think that they should grow their own food, you go in THERE and you tell THEM to grow Veg. You point out Why You should grow Veg instead of meat, because its quicker. (Note: I'm not refering to you as you, I'm saying you as what would someone would do)
But ofcource you cant do that. Why? Because of the lack of translators. Why? because It will take forever for the message to reach everyone. Why? Because You're taking away something that they can grow extra and they will need. There starving, They want all the meat they can get and you say "sorry, I think its too hard for you to grow, Eat vegetables instead". Who would listen anyway?
But I think that if they could farm already they already would.

Same. I come back after two days, and there is a whole new page. About
the same general subject. Well, I'm now stumped seeing how I am
currently 3 pages behind. I guess I'll just wait for a subject change.
Guess it's back to relying on Xbox Live to chat with people. For now.

It is nice for people to express different opinions and ideas about a subject, instead of always agreeing with each other like mindless drones.

Well, they will agree if they actually agree with what they think is true.
For example. I might disagree with Aice about something, and maybe
debate or discuss the subject. But if I agree, I will agree and move on.
And most likely expand on the subject so that there isn't a dead stop.

If what gets any weirder? Are you trying to pick a fight with me? If you're going to bicker, do it on SpyroChat and not here.
And no, Samantha is a name that makes me think of anime. Ewwwwww...

No, I'm saying that there's nothing stopping them from doing so. African governments tend to be quite corrupt, but it may be something that gets better over time.

Re: General Discussion - 2
This isn't a huge debate about politics and everyone knows what will happen it it erupts into one. It is instead been an argument over how the two different styles of consumption can affect the world we live in or something such as that. I really stopped looking about five pages ago.

Re: General Discussion - 2
Strange how arguments develop. Actually, I've argued suscessfully that worldwide vegetarianism would help solve global warming, fast food health problems, and deforestation of the amazon. We're finishing on the argument of famine.
See, the officials wouldn't do that though. In the long term, it's bad for them, and they could be looking at rebellion. In fact, the food taken is probably comparable to tax in our countries.

Don't make me pull out my paintball gun out. At least it will leave bruises
and not holes. I will fight if I got mad enough, but I am good at
keeping/holding my anger and frustrations in from all the *bleep* I had to
deal with in my past.
Also, I would not like being banned from this website and/or Mibbit. So
back the hell off, and don't douch my cheeks.
I hate being called innocent. In fact, you're the first person, that I recall,
who has said that to me. Don't call me that anymore. And I am not
superior either. There is only One who is truly superior.
