Re: Any fanfiction writers here?

True, very true. As for the line I was talking about, it was the line dividing just simple fluff and romance compared to putting a lemon. I'm not saying it was a bad, I was just pointing that out.

Re: Any fanfiction writers here?

In terms of that line yes many other authors have crossed it, and the vast majority of them don't know how to do it nor do they understand it. When writing about something like that it's very freaking hard to master the scene and make it appear as if you're not just portraying some kind of material just because you can.....that's why many have extreme difficulty with the category in general. In my opinion it's the hardest thing to even write about.

I know writers who just go out and make every story about that junk.....and that is very very extreme. I'll cross the line if it actually pertains to my story but I still don't do it often if at all.

I can name at least three off of the top ofmy head who write that stuff....mostly beuase 'to show their true love' or something. Yep...I can see that...after all, it takes only a day to fall in love with some one and 2 weeks to do it. Totally realistic. Ahahaha...I can go on but I'll stop

Re: Any fanfiction writers here?

I'm actually working on a Spyro story called The Spyro Chronicles: Prophecy of Peril (title may change). It's a really in-depth story with characters like Cynder, Iggy, LOS Hunter and some of my own.  wink I'm going to start writing it up after my exams and then I'll get permission from Spyrorocks and I'll post them on the FanFics page for you all.  smile

I’m sure you have a lovely idea Saphira and I don’t want to judge it before you have even wrote it but... I hate fan fiction’s that use OC's (unless there really needed) they just distract us from the characters we all love which are the reason we read fan fictions.

By OCs do you mean other characters? If so, EVERY main character has a backstory and serve a purpose. None of them are just there for the sake of it. Of course there are other minor characters that don't really have a major purpose, but they are hardly seen. It's a very complex and interesting story with a lot of twists and this story means a lot to me. I only called it a fanfiction because I could think of another name for it.  :-P

Can't wait to post it and share it with you all.  smile I hope I helped you ontels.  wink

Re: Any fanfiction writers here?

OC's that I have in a fanfic nowadays is becuase I have them there in replacement of...let's say Cynder died, and Spyro is alone. However, she can be ressurected. That's when the OC's come in for me.

Re: Any fanfiction writers here?

Saphira, OCs are original characters, ones that you create yourself. In other words, they're fan characters. In a particular fanfic, the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon fanfic I'm writing doesn't really use teams from PMD: EoT/EoD. The major teams are basically just fan created. I also prefer to break that rule of a maximum of four members in the team. There are three major teams that I've established: Team Eon (the protagonists), Team Shadow (the antagonists) and Team HKX (a Master Rank team, they act more as guides for Team Eon, helping them out and giving them advice, as they're still relatively new.)

Re: Any fanfiction writers here?

Thank you Bmah. I clearly pointed out the fine line that had to be threaded if you do want to write that kind of stuff. It's not easy at all and most of it does come down to pointless sex scenes with pretty much no plot at all.

Re: Any fanfiction writers here?

I see nothing wrong with OC's if they enrich the plot. After all, it is a fan-fiction so there should be fan-characters in it.
That's my opinion though.

I think if someones going to make original characters they should also give them a original world, instead of someone else's.

Yes but the characters who are mine and appear often are dragons (or dragonesses), so they live in a dragon's world like Spyro.  smile

Re: Any fanfiction writers here?

More often than not, ontels, those who have OCs play a significant role in a fanfic leave it so that the canon characters are more powerful, wiser, etc. They make sure to avoid making Mary Sues/Gary Stus.

That's my opinion though.

I second that. I love creating an OC because it gives me a chance to throw my own little wrench into the plot. I don't have to continue and make sure I'm loyal to just the normal characters I can have one that is under my control and one that I can decide how it responds to certain things.

To me, just like she said, they do nothing but enrich the plot so long as you know how to incorporate them into it.

I wrote fanfiction, but now that I look back at my previous stories I feel humiliated. I just hate the way I write, but others seem to like it, so meh.

Re: Any fanfiction writers here?

I'm a fan-fiction writer. I mostly write Pura, Polar and Co. stories, but I do have a Spyro crossover fanfic in the works. All my stories are on fanfiction.net, under SecretAgentYaya (Mirror Mirror is the Spyro one).

Touché, my good man! I admit that there are some M-rated stories that have engaging plots that captivate the reader and are not just pointless romantic scenes. The trouble nowadays is sorting through the pointless naughty stuff to find the plot-heavy M-rated fics. Still, I acknowledge that valid point. *insert Edgeworth-style bow here*

As long as we're also on the OC topic, yeah OCs are fine as sub-characters. Maybe develop a relationship between a pair of them... or kill one off for the sake of plot advancement. The only thing to watch out for are those blasted Mary Sues... which are actually steadily declining in the Spyro fiction world thanks to Cynderism. I guess that's one benefit of this silly Cynder thing.

Re: Any fanfiction writers here?

The Fanfiction genre is a great genre that allows creative expression within a topic of given characters and setting. It's also viewed as the writer's "easy way out" for writing sometimes

And Shepherds we shall be, for thee my Lord for thee.
Power hath descended forth from thy hand, that our feet may swiftly carry out thy command.
So we shall flow river forth to thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be.
In nomine patris, et filli, et spiritus sancti.

Re: Any fanfiction writers here?

I love to write fanfiction...I think better when my feet are moving, so I always swing them or bounce them.  Some people look at me funny, but I don't care.

I write for Spyro, the cartoon American Dragon: Jake Long, the manhwa Jack Frost, and the manga Bamboo Blade and Hellsing.

I have an OC of my own...Ruby Blade for American Dragon...she also makes guest appearances as a background character in a few of my other stories...I put her through a litmus test and it said I should kill her stone dead.  I won't though, because the test only asked questions like, "Is s/he pretty? and "Is s/he a good fighter?"  (Answers: Yes and Yes.)  But it neglected to ask things like "Is s/he mentally unstable?" and "Is s/he a complete sadist? and "Is s/he a genocidal killer?"  (Answers: Yes, Yes, and Yes.) >;} heh heh...

With a contrary wind, the dragon flies higher.

I almost wrote some stories for AD:JL, but instead I went with Spyro. Made me mad when they canceled the series anyways.
