Re: Random favourite object

My favourite items? Hmm...

Well I don't know where I'd be without my MP3 Player. Although I want a new one because the one I have now doesn't have enough memory.

My PS2 is a lifesaver too, although I'd love a PS3. It keeps me occupied though.  smile

My favourite CDs in my collection are greatly protected by me.  :-P

Some other things too, but they are my favourites.

Your lucky! Nun-chucks are illegal in California but your agony now has me thinking of Nerf Nun-chucks.

Re: Random favourite object

I'd be way to scared to start swinging around Nun-chucks, I mean there a reason they require years of training to use effectively.

Re: Random favourite object

Look, you can swing nunchucks around all right, but while your going all Kung Fu movie on me, I stab you. Because I have a sword. I'm a fencer, and while you can hardly kill someone with a foil, the basic principles are same, as long as you don't forget and assume it'll be all right, "as long as he only hits your head".

Re: Random favourite object

A sword is allot heavier than a sword, even rapier's are heavier.

Re: Random favourite object

Yes, yes they are. And what did I just say? Foils aren't lethal. I've held a saber, steel blade, and it was heavier, but not that heavy for a grown man. You think the Roman army had trouble with their swords?

Re: Random favourite object

Swords aren't particularly heavy, it all depends on the size of the blade. Naturally a longsword would weigh more than a shortsword and the thicker the blade the heavier the balance. Foils way very little, incredibly easy to weild. And most of the romans used gladiuses, probably spelt the plural there wrong, and they werent particularly large.

Re: Random favourite object

They were more like daggers than swords, they probably had more trouble keeping up there huge shields.

Re: Random favourite object

Exactly, gladiuses were shortswords, designed not for slashing, but for thrusts and jabbing. Their philosophy was that a man that slashed couldn't get through armour, and didn't do as much damage as a stab. That's why they held their gladi (Latin is useful now and then  smile  ) in a low position, behind their great ugly shields.

So while stabbing kills a man, slashing wounds him greviously, how much damage does hitting them with a bit of wood do?

Re: Random favourite object

Quite a lot actually. You can't compare weapons when they're meant for fighting in different styles. It all depends on the skills of the wielder. A man with a set of nunchucks could cause serious harm to a man with a sword if he's a more competent fighter. Unless you pit a man with a gun against a man with a sword you aren't really going to find a better weapon, it all depends on the user.

I suppose. But that's why we invented arguing.

Re: Random favourite object

if only bullets were mad eout of metal not lead, u could put a magnet in a sword or body armour then it would cause them to repel or something

Re: Random favourite object

Lol the magnet would only repel the bullet if the bullet was magnetised too to have the same magnetic polarity as the magnet in your sword/armour. Otherwise you'd just bring the bullet towards you. I suppose having a magnet in your sword would help; the bullet would be drawn to the sword instead of your body.

Re: Random favourite object

Well i meant repelling wise, that was the idea, but being focused oon the sword seems a good idea to.

I wouldn't consider the nun-chuck a weapon, but a tool you use. For chockes and blocks and grabs. Not strikes or puches.

Re: Random favourite object

Why am i getting worried now about the numchucks?  lol, at the moment my favourite object would have to be my bike, its a bit old and  item at the moment would be the bike i use for my paper rounds, its a bit old and i fixed it up from when i got it and its got a big metal front headlamp as well as a smaller back one with also metal brake triggers (cant think what they are called), but the reason i got this bike was not only the headlamps but also the rack on the back as it holds my paper back perfectly so its easier to do than walking it now big_smile
