Yep thats true, my only reservation is that AHT and SL almost killed off spyro until TLOS came along, which is why i like both series to be honest big_smile original as it was the original and the new because it stopped spyro from being killed off.

Uh, A Hero's Tail and Shadow Legacy almost killing Spyro off? That sounds rather...exaggerating. I mean, A Hero's Tail did receive some average scores, didn't it (I can't remember)? I can understand Shadow Legacy getting a lower score since it was a watered-down version of a Role Playing Game, but...yeah. People didn't go off and saying the whole "They're killing Spyro" or "Spyro's dead to me" thing until the Legend series appeared.

I just remember hearing info that AHT almost stopped it somehow, but that could just be my dodgy memory, i will look later for the website i saw it on later.

I saw a huge drop in interest just about everywhere after ETD hit stores, and then things got a little better with AHT before going down the tubes once more with Shadow Legacy. Really been back and forth.

Well at least it picked up for TLOS thats all i can say really, i remember being so shocked upon hearing they were starting again. I want Gnasty Gnorc back sad but he was good enough in the first spyro, so best to leave him there, AHT gnasty gnorc was just wrong....

Yeah I wasn't a very big fan of him in AHT....more like they had nothing to fill the hole with so they just brought him back for the heck of it. In the first game he was at least funny and dangerous at the same time haha...

the only reason TLOS didn't kill Spyro was because it was made...if taht makes any sense. If they released Another Spyro game as Avarage as AHT then Spyro would've still continued. When we say "save Spyro" we technically mean that developers actually want to pick it up.

Without a doubt, there will be more Spyro games in the future. The entire purpose of the trilogy was to re-establish the characters and the world in a way that would allow for growth and expansion. We’ve only scratched the surface.

We'll probably see more Spyro games in the LoS universe, since the LoS trilogy was meant to start a new beginning for Spyro.

I wouldn't be surprised about that fact. All the fans are taking any scraps that the developers have lying around so they can prove a point or two.

Change of subject here: Now it might be just me but while I was playing Dragon Valor (an old PS1 game by Namco) it happened to have a very similar ending. Let me cap it out here.

Hero (Human Knight): "You killed my girl!"
Dragon (Black and Purple): "Hate... let it flow through you so you can become a dragon."
Hero: "Grrr..."
Girl's voice (Human Knight): "Don't give in to it. I'm still alive and by your side."
Hero: "You're alive...? I will vanquish you dragon!"
*Fight scenqence, Underworld collapses causing the real world to blend into it and on verge of destruction*
Dragon: "As long as there is hate... as there are humans... I'll never die."
Hero: "I won..."
*Sword makes this weird shrilling sound hmm *
Hero: "The sword speaks... I know what I must do."
*He...does something with the sword. I don't know what but he saves the world, gets the girl, and excluding this deep conversation they have, they live happily ever after*

I had the same feeling with this one car and it's color scheme in Need For Speed: Most Wanted. I think the driver was nicknamed Dizy or something. Cliché... I been hearing that alot so I guess these two cases were coincidences or inpirations. What do you think?

hmm coincidences i guess, but it depends in the date of that PS1 game to be honest. Im not surprised about a car being purple on NFS:MW to be honest as the game developers have either most probaly played spyro in the past and wanted to intigrate it into a car, althought mabye just coincidence, i dunno

Yeah, those games rocked! It would be awesome if they would at least make one more good original style game, but I do not think it is very likely that they will... sad Too bad... Good memories!

Nowadays developers focus on technological advancements like graphics, more accessible mechanics features like Xbox 360's Project Natal, and expanded range of interactivity than just simple gameplay. I'm fine with that and also the online store offering classic like games (I'm still waiting for Interplay to release Descent. A classic 3D space-sim first person arcade shooter... with six degrees of movement. It's almost has a genre in its own right. big_smile ) so retro fellas have the stuff they like.

I do both and focus on seldom improved mechanics like sound effects, A.I. behavior, interactivity range, and semi-linear game progression. For example, I notice that the enemies in the original Spyro games don't attack you if they are off-screen.

Actually, the car was black, grey, and red... similar to Cynder's color scheme.

The old Spyro's are AMAZING! I would love to see a sequel to Year of the Dragon. I have an idea for the game: Ripto can be alive, just insanely discusting and burnt ( haha I love lava) and he could have insane powers and crud or something to make him hard to beat. He could, I don't, just like start to kill all the dragons in bloody battles and it could be up to Spyro to stop him. Too much like the others? hmm Or too violent? I'm thinking the blood think might be alittle, EXTREME.

I would like to see a T or M rated Spyro game just to shake things up. At least it would be different and more entertaining to a degree.

Hmmm, I don't like the idea personally... especially not M, because they just start throwing in unnecessary swearing/blood/whatever just to make sure it will get the M rating. I think too much would be lost in the process of getting that rating.

The resaon I wouldn't like an M game is because it would look silly.Cartoony Dragons having relationships? SWearing? A really dark plot. You really cant make something really dark when it has a whole lot of talking animals and stuff in it. I mean, Some Movies like "The lion King" Can be dark dispite having cartoony characters in it, but taht is EXTREMELY hard o pull off, and that is G anyway. (Or is it PG, i dunno)
M would hita certain fanbase, but it would not capture the mainstream audicence IMO, And i WANT spyro games to capture the mainstream audience, Not just me or my fanase.

I think that some people are getting a bit paranoid on this subject. Spyro won't turn into a rated M game...

Infact, I think that they should continue on the path that they are going with DotD. If they were just given a few more months of extra time, I believe they could have made it much, much, MUCH longer...

It was just a random throw it out there idea lol, I wouldn't ever expect Spyro to be M rated it was just a small food for thought, but I'm pretty sure their is some twisted studio that could make it appear as an M rated title. Just revamp the art style and throw in a darker story.

Well, there go the Guardians, the Manweersmalls, and the Mole people. I hope the Cheetahs are great fighters, cause it's them and and a few dragons against the entire evil cast. Actually, Spyro and Cynder can probably nuke entire continents now, so I guess it's even.
