Re: The Big Ol' Debating Thread
As of last Christmas I have been fortunate enough to aquire one of each console (large family so there's obviously a difference in preferences). So I can see the appeal each console has. My own observations tell me that PS3 has much higher quality graphics, but game play tends to suffer a bit (I havent played a lot of games so I cant be certain about that).
The Nintendo Wii focuses more on gameplay, the control scheme obviously is a major factor in that, but unfortunately due to the size of the machine, the graphics do vary depending on the game.
As for the 360, I consider that a happy medium between the two. It has a decent level of graphics, a wideish variety of games, including puzzles, shooters, racing and adventure (and they do have kiddie games such as viva pinata so it isnt as hardcore as you think).
Halo was developed by Bungie which at the time was owned by Microsoft so Xbox didnt just buy the rights to it, they basically developed it. Sony has always had Final Fantasy for most of its life and Nintendo obviously has more gaming mascots than anyone, (mario, zelda, metroid, etc).
So any one console isn't 'better' than any other. Unless you're talking about a specific catagory, such as processing power, or graphic capabilities the entire debate is opinionated.
My personal opinion, however, is that Nintendo has always enabled the other companies to progress, such as developing the analogue controller, and developing Zelda Ocarina of Time which changed the face of gaming. However, despite the Wii outselling almost anything, and the DS selling better than all the consoles, the xbox 360 is the best. Wide variety of games, good value for money, decent graphics, and easily playable.
You know that you've become successful when you start stealing Star Systems!

Topics like "what's your favorite xxx" are not debate topics either because they're unfalsifiable claims with no way of proving/disproving them. And many other topics such as birth control and abortion are indirectly related to politics, religion and such. Even with global warming, someone would ought to mention Al Gore and then that's already a violation. Good luck finding a "clean" debate.
That being said, umm......
okAssuming humans will advance their technology enough so that space will become a viable area for resources and land, what do you think is the best way to divide up and claim property?
P.S. Debate topics should have ZERO flaming. You don't debate to feel good about yourself and not listen to others; that's not a debate. In which case you may want to redefine some things in your post Aceedwin.
lol.. sorry to tell you but that is actually a slightly political subject if you think about it.... lol
Now you see how the restrictions leave little room for debatable topics. Most good debate topics are eaten away by the restrictions. If such restrictions were imposed to reduce argument, well that's counterintuitive in making a good debate. I'm no mod, but I think the way to handle the roughness of topics such as politics is to enforce a zero-tolerance flaming rule rather than ban the topics altogether. That would not compromise our ability to discuss such topics IMO.
It's a little pet peeve I have, but I honestly think this reasoning is more logical. (You can probably tell I'm requesting a review or revision of the imposed topic bans, but I honestly don't think such flexibility will be provided sadly.)Also, the X-box topic is not a debatable one, as the subject is unfalsifiable and purely a matter of preferences rather than debatable facts.
Scroll to the bottem of my signature.... "I Reject Reality" ... of course I can't but I try. lol... I think rules should only be imposed only if required.. lol
If tomorrow may never come, and yesterday is just a memory, then what is today worth?

Re: The Big Ol' Debating Thread
The thread's fine corny, but it's really not a debate rather than a more detailed version of "what's your favorite xxx and why?". Seeing how things are going, all that's really needed is to change the thread title since it's not a debate thread. Anyways, don't let me stop the flow of conversation. Carry on.

both of you shut up and get back to debating why the 360's internet and games suck, and why the PS3 is so overpriced. ![]()

Power hath descended forth from thy hand, that our feet may swiftly carry out thy command.
So we shall flow river forth to thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be.
