Any musicians on this forum
I play the guitar and thinking about taking lessons on bass. I play chords and power chords. I am going to takes lessons again soon. I hope to get good at lead guitar. I just need to practice. Before my parents took away my lessons we were doing lead guitar.
My guitar teacher said I was doing well. I myself think I need practice to perfect moving my fingers better.
How about this, show a picture of the instrument you play. I will soon as my mother will let me barrow her camera...

Re: Any musicians on this forum
I'm self teaching the keyboard, and when I'm decent enough and able to record and mix everything, I want to start an electronica project.
Everyone knows I only eat Cynder fangirls.

Re: Any musicians on this forum
I was thinking about doing something like that with guitar but I am still saving up my money for the software I need. I need an amp though since my speakers that I have were damaged from the rough music.
Corny you really should not put yourself down. I think you should try and play an instrument. You know what they say "try and try again until some one points a gun at your head and tells you to stop." LOL

I used to play the recorder. In fact, I think I still have somewhere... in pieces. Hm.
I used to play the clarinet, too. I need to get into that again.

Re: Any musicians on this forum
Ive played piano for quite a while now.
I wouldnt recommend piano because youll only be able to see the fruit of you hard work after years and years of training. You need to accept wont train yourself to so good like the people are in the movies, atleast not in 10 years. By that i mean that youd be able to play any song perfectly from the air when you look at the sheets once.

Re: Any musicians on this forum
Yeah, I play the electric guitar. And acoustic.
Lately, I have been playing my dad's 12 string acoustic at youth group,
because we have no drummer and are forced to do acoustic sets.
Here is one of my guitars, my favorite. Fender Lone Star Stratocaster.

Re: Any musicians on this forum
I've played the piano since I was three years old. When I started going to university however, my piano playing started waning off until I stopped. I've been playing for at least 15 years or more. What someone said previously in this thread was true - if you just start playing the piano, you might not appreciate the results right away. Takes years of practice...

Re: Any musicians on this forum
Everyone seems to think that piano is pretty simple because it has "buttons". That is because they seem to think that pressing those keys in a particular order is very easy. In fact it is, but you cant play anything decent in the first five years your practice.

Re: Any musicians on this forum
Patience is pretty much what's necessary for all musical instruments. Be you a flautist, pianist, guitarist, bassist, etc. As for myself, I've been a flautist for the past eight years. On Tuesday, my school's band (which has three sections, Concert Band (Freshman band), Symphonic Band (Intermediate level band in my high school) and Wind Ensemble (collegiate level band; they played at CARNEGIE HALL this year!)) went to NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association) Majors to play. There are four rankings a band can reach, if scored. Performances will not be scored if the conductor (or soloist) requests it be counted as a festival playing, or if there are too many mistakes.
The ranks go in order from lowest to highest: Bronze, Silver, Gold (outstanding performance), and Gold with Distinction (perfect score; exceptional playing of all three pieces for NYSSMA adjudication). These are the scores of the three sections in my band.
Concert Band: Gold
Symphonic Band (section I'm in): Gold
Wind Ensemble (collegiate level band): Gold with Distinction.
And best of all, every other year the bands take a trip somewhere. Last year we went to Puerto Rico (but I couldn't go, for money reasons). Next year... we're going to SPAIN baby!

Re: Any musicians on this forum
Cynder 794 go for it. I have a good friend in marching band and she has lots of fun as well as funny stories about things that just happen.
Anyway I think that all instruments have their challenges be it the flute to the drums. I have been playing a guitar for a year and I have not yet come to like what I play just yet but that does not stop me from learning. All of you have achieved something great for staying committed to your instrument.
Don't let anything stop you from learning something new. With the right intentions you can achieve great success.

Re: Any musicians on this forum
Well, I can say that one of the most fun songs I have learned on the
guitar is "One Last Breath" by Creed. And because the clean channel is
used, you can pretty much play it anywhere without annoying the adults.
My favorite solo that I learned would have to be the last solo
in "Comfortably Numb" by Pink Floyd.
Oh, and take lessons, and never give up. I have been playing guitar for
only about a year, and people come up to me asking if I've played for 8-9
years. Just keep up the lessons, and you will quickly become a good
player at the instrument you play.
One word. Confidence. Especially when on stage.
