How do you make a website/forum?

How do you make a website or forum?

Sorry if I wasted your time but I'm dying to know.... :'(

Reason is that I wanna keep in touch with my friends and do RPs
even if we don't see each other anymore....
I'm quite worried 'bout that.... I don't think I can communicate with
two of my friends...

There's several different ways. For websites you can try freewebs.com. For a list of free forum hosts look at my website. (Alternative you can use google to look for free hosts.)

Make sure that those free hosts dont have pr0n adds.

if it's communication you're concerned about, you might also want to try an instant messenger and make sure your friends have the same or a compatible messenger (like MSN, or Yahoo)

your best bet is a personal forum using a free forum host like Gadgetphile mentioned. With a website you'd need some comment system of some sort. Freewebs offers a comment system but for RPs and such, an organized post system like what a forum offers is your better bet.

Hey, webs.com does not suck. I have one, and it's great. I have some text
to update, but my website is pretty cool.

The reason people think it sucks is because they can't learn to use what is
given to create a good website. They would not have over a million and a
half members if it sucked.

If you are having trouble with personal advice just go out and purchase one of the millions of books that can help with this sort of thing. That's what I did and I have to say they help pretty well.

I have no idea on how to make websites, forums or anything like that. But when I learn how to make a website, the first thing I will make is a forum.

Not just that easy, you need to learn programming codes such as needed to start from begining

And so on. its some what easy untill you do the scripting and meta tags. You can do it manualy like this or buy and install a program that lets you build it yourself and the program will make the codes for you. Like Macromedia 8 that i used at my school.

Yeah but if you script it for yourself you will def become more skilled and learn a lot more in the process. That way if something is wrong you can also take a very hands on approach and fix things yourself.

You do reliase if you want to build a forum you will also need PHP which perhaps isn't the best thing to work with. There are plenty of sites that set up your own forums for you and so its pretty just like Dreamweaver MX except for forums

Go to www.smfforfree.com

Click on Create a Forum at the side.

Name your site and create a url.

Then you are set. I run 3 forums myself, including a home website and I am also the moderator of a vBulletin site called LiquidLurker.com so I'm kind of used to this. cool

If you need anyone to walk you through how to use Simple Machines Forums I can do that for you when you make your site, if you make me an admin to start with. I will set up your boards and categorys. I'd be happy to help.
