Has anyone else been one gem off completion

When I was playing through Year of The Dragon for the first time I spent ages looking for one gem on the level Crystal Islands, never could find the blighter.

Anyone else had a similar experience?

Almost any time I play the original Spyros I always find this happens to me

There is that time I missed one gem in High Caves in Spyro 1.

But I found it after romping around the level for 2 hours or so.

Strangely, I never had that problem in Spyro 2 or 3.

I almost always used to miss one purple gem on YOTD in Cloud Spires. I can never remember how I always manage to get the ones that are hidden in the charge vases behind the corners in the little building, and not that one....

On YOTD I have a few eggs and gems I've yet to collect, but the one that has really got me annoyed was one in the Fireworks Factory level. I'm 5 gems off so I'm guessing it's a blue gem. Can I find it?! Can I heck! I've looked EVERYWHERE. Nowhere to be found...

I've given up! XD

BTW, Phoenix_Flyer, change of avatar again: very nice! smile I'm experimenting with mine so it keeps changing every 5 minutes. I've made loads, I might post them in the Spyro art section.

Thanks! I'm experimenting too, my current one is a picture I drew today on GIMP, but I can't get it to look right as an avatar.... EDIT: No worries, I'm happy now....

And I hated looking for the gems and dragons on the 1st one full stop, its the only one I have yet to complete....

Yeah I did that a couple times 1 was in Spooky Swamp I was a gem short and I looked everywhere till I found it in Sheila's challenge.

Oddly Enough it happened to me in spyro 1, Dark passage. I had 99% That one blue gem inside one of those large armored toad things. Before I could find it the disk broke. I replaced this year, found the gem went to gnasty's loot, beat the game, finally After more than 9 years (It was my first video game at the age 3.) since I started I finished the game. smile

I haven't played Year of the Dragon in a month or two, but I know that I'm missing some gems in Crystal Islands and I have no idea where to get them! I tried looking at tutorials, too. I wonder if it's some sort of glitch.
