How the hell..
I've just borrowed Spyro 1 off my mate, and I've been playing Spyro 2 non-stop, literally.. I play Spyro one now, and my god.. the gameplay is so different. How do you hover? I'm in a level currently, I glide, but I just hit the edge of a platform and fall to my death. 
help please.

You can't hover in Spyro 1. You just have to walk as far as possible to the edge of the platform you glide from.

Like sheep said^, there is no hover in the first game. If you're having trouble with a specific level or gameplay issue, just post your problem on the help forum (One trick I use for glides that aren't going to make it is to hit square right before you hit the wall; the transition to charge gives you just a little more altitude).

yeah, you cant hover. theres also a few more differences. but yeah, pretty different

ive been playing spyro 2 for awhile now and i played syro 1 last night and yeah, not hovering was a bit of a problem for me as well.

This is exactly why people should start with the first game and work their way up. I am sick of hearing "Why is there no autosave?" and stuff like that. It is the first game! Don't expect it to be perfect. <_<
