Anyone hate the original games?

First three games were best. I liked collecting stuff and beating bosses. big_smile

1.Childish?Ok, The originals were aimed at young ages, but it was very tolerable by adults and teenages. But seriously, its not like Spyro was the most childish games out there. Mario, Banjo kazooie and Kirby were much more childish than Spyro but they sold like hot cakes. TLOS is also childish. Yes, its more dark but still too cliche for most adults. I'm not saying Adults wont play it, but the game is mainly aimed at kids as Mike Graham has said.
Its weird though seeing its rated E10 but their target is from 5-12, i guess their a bit mixed up.
2.Terrible voice acting? You think so? eh, i deont see anything wrong with the voice acting, It defiently doesn't sound forced, and the actors do put emotion into it. I dont think its too much worse than TLOS.
3.Glitchy? Now this is just a blind comment. The only annoying glitch in the originals was thecountry speedway egg glitch, And i agree with you, that was a pain in the neck. But that didn't give me a reason to hate the game. In fact you would only be angry with the glitch when you are enjoying the game so much. As for most of the other glitches, they are fun, and you can really only do them when your really trying.

I never got to play the originals that much, save for the original and a hero's tail, I don't know the Legend series just seemed to sit better with me for some reason, sorry, I just like them better...

It's not that I hate the originals I just prefer TLOS. The first 3 were good, but I prefer a more epic storyline. The first 3 were mostly something bad happens and you go to different worlds and get/free/kill whatever it is. Tlos has diferent missions to do.

Thats exavuly what you do in TLOS, what are you talking about?
In TLOS you free the dragon guardians, kill the end boss guarding the guardian.
TEN is a bit more unique thgat each part has a different reason to go there, but i find nothing wrong with a storyline that has one major complication and a few smaller ones, than a game which has a few major complications in linerity. Ofcource i dont have a problem with that kind of storyline either, i like Ratchet and Clank after all.
but the originals had missions too, in minigames and the general mission for completing a level.

I agree with ratchet. The originals did have missions, just maybe not in the way that you mean.

I found TLoS very repetitive because all you really do is fight the same old monkeys over and over. The originals were more fun for me because there were puzzles and different tasks to complete, instead of kill-the-monkeys-get-to-the-end-of-the-insanely-long-level-fight-a-boss.

The thing I don't like about TLOS is how repetitive the combat is. All you really did was just bash the circle button and occasionally press square.

I HATE the original Spyro because you couldn't breath the 4 elements, Sparx doesn't have the sarcasm as the TLoS series, and, most importantly, NO CYNDER in the original Spyro.

I'm going to go ahead and second that. The elemental breath types just annoy me and seem unnecessary; Sparx is rarely funny; and Cynder is so overrated it drives me insane. Oh, and I hate the combat and the story of TLoS. Yay. big_smile

I'm going to go and say that I like both, the new one a bit better than the old one. Although I still think that the the new ones are nothing compared to the first three, but are better than the ones inbetween.

I'm used to -repetitive- gameplay. I've gone through it hundreds of times, like theres final fantasy X where the gameplay can get quite boring, and those levels were not only insanely long, but hard as well, spyro was confusing, but still a breeze compared to what I've played, so, to me, hating the new series because of repetitive gameplay is a little silly because every game has that at some point or another. hmm yes some games make it more obvious than others, however, I find that if you've JUST played the new spyro w/o knowing much of his past, I dont think you would really be bothered by much of the negatives, unless you also have an open mind. sad And have played A LOT of games, including bad ones so you know which are good and which are bad.

I haven't had much exposure to the originals beyond watching a friend play, so I don't have an opinion on the old stuff myself.

lol dont be friendly warning me, I just answered a question w/o going into too much detail about it. I actually DID see a stamp on there that said that they liked the new one better than the original, but I wont link to it for many reasons. The real people you should be talking to is those who ask such questions. Of course I know I'm guilty of it myself for answering it. sad sorry for that.

That is probably the most ignorant statement I've seen about this yet. I'm free to have my opinion, and you are free to have yours. I've played them all, and I like them both alike (although the graphics on DotD blew me away, not to mention the fact that you can fly any time you want, something the series was lacking for far too long)

in essence, I think I like DotD better than any other Spyro game, simply because of the fact that they finally figured out that Dragons are supposed to be able to fly roll
