School Dance Troubles

There is this dance that's coming up at my school a semi formal. Masquerade Ball is what it's called. Well one of my friends says he dosen't want to go because he thinks it's a couple thing and that it dosen't seem right. I'm going with my girlfriend and two of my friends but we all want him to come. Is there something anything I can tell him to convince him to get the tickets and come with us?

Re: School Dance Troubles

If he doesn't want to go, then he doesn't want to go. The end. You can't force him.

Re: School Dance Troubles

Proms and Dances are nowhere near as hyped up in the UK as they are in the US. Sure, we get excited and sort out who we were going with, but not much more than that.
When I went to our Year 11 Leavers Prom, which is celebrating our last year in Secondary school (most of us are 16 at the time), I just went with my group of friends, none of us went with a lad. Actually thats a lie, one of our lad friends asked my best mate to go with him, though not as a going out thing. Lol, we wound her up for that for ages, because we all knew they secretly fancied each other! XD But yeah, we don't make a huge deal out of it, and it was a very nice night. Seeing as the students organised it all themselves, with no help from teachers, it was pretty good! XD
As for now, there are proms and balls in college at Easter and Christmas. But I never went, I couldn't be bothered. And to be honest, neither could most of the college! I'm not saying that I thought they were going to be rubbish, I'm saying I just didn't want to go. In school you have little groups of friends that you go to all of your classes with. In college in the UK, its different. You are extremely unlikely to have the same people in all of your classes. For example, one lad I have two lessons the same with, but that's it. As a result, its hard to make little friendship groups, apart from in specific classes. Not to mention that none of my friends from secondary school are in my classes (even though we were quite a big group of 6), and because we have lessons and breaks at randomly different times, its also hard to meet up.... Oh, the joys of college! XD
