i still laugh everytime someone says they prefer new spyro, i laugh because to people who really loved spyro the way he was can see that the new games only qualify as spyro games because of the name slapped on the box, apart from that you might as well be playing a magical blue/green polka dotted capybara
the problem with the "new is better" opinion in regards to spyro is that its often based on the belief that what makes a spyro game great is spyro, because honestly the only thing that the 2 series have in common is spyro, and even then its not the same spyro

Well is the same manner you could see it vise versa. Personaly I'm netural. Both are great but tLoS needs all of our support or else there will be nothing remaining to continue debating. If you want the old games to return then the new must survive long enough for the gamer to change.

Your opinion is yours but don't be biased due to your age when you played the original series. It is but an old thing you are holding to of your past. keep it and then move on and give Spyro a fighting chance.

I am also a fan of both series...and I love both of them for what they are. Both are not perfect....but they have kept me entertained for hours and hours on end. The worst mistake that Sierra could make was splitting the fanbase like this....and I don't like to see it either...but they knew what they were doing..and knew that not everyone would like this change.

The series has attracted a lot of younger fans(yes dumb at times) who were just like most of us were when the original games came out...and it is pretty popular all things considered...despite its defaults. Yes their are many things that are bad about it....and many things that are positive...but Sierra is pretty adamant about the direction they are moving in...and that has nothing to do with the older games.

Is this the smart thing to do? Perhaps not....including some elements of the older games might be a smart move...but alas we are not in control of what the developers are going to do...but I will support them so long as they continue to create tolerable gaming experiences. Will it ever be as good as it was?...Most likely not...it's a completely different market now then what it was 10 years ago....and nothing stays the same forever...but most older fans will stay loyal to those games and do everything they can to bring them back...and if that's what they wish to do then let them.

Some just don't adapt like others do...thankfully I learned to love the LoS series for what it was...and now I enjoy writing about it more then anything...but don't ask people to just jump right into supporting something that is completely wrong to them. Sure it is the admirable thing to do...being part of the Spyro franchise..but when their minds are pretty well set....nothing is going to change it.

a re-boot of a re-boot i would think that spyro would of died if that happened i would nvr want that to happen ive known teh game 4 2 long got attached to it i admit that smile

I don't see anything involving a reboot happening. The only time it was mentioned was when they were coming out with LoS to begin with..and they changed that around....I just don't see them having any interest in the old series whatsoever....just leave them alone and go along your own storyline....anything else would just be a waste of time for them.

Sierra is doing fine by their own means...and by the means of half the fans. Their will always be conflict no matter what thanks to the fans of both series and Sierra for deciding to split it.

I don't know what they will do. I can only assume that they will keep going with the series in some way or another under a different heading of some kind.

In a way its good there is a divide, because then its not everyone agreeing with each other saying that a certain series is the best, you need a divide to get decent comments out of people
