One, that's not exactly true. Fletch seems to have given proof that PS1 was not the only console at the time.

Also, my point is that now that there are more consoles, the game will be available to more people, meaning it will sell more copies. Therefore, the comparison as you have it isn't really fair, so if DotD ends up selling more copies than Spyros 1-3, I don't want to hear the TLoS supporters saying "TLoS iz bettar cuz it sold moar copeez!1111!!!" tongue

Re: SPYRO

The LoS isn't more popular..nor will it ever be more populer then the originals in terms of copies sold. Yes the game has well over a million...and yes their are more systems available today that cater to many others.....and like said before some will rush out to buy it even without knowing what they were getting into. This is what happened with ETD...and that's how it got it's high sales...

Playstation was the only consul that catered to Spyro the Dragon when it first came out...and sure that might have had to do with the high sales...but it's anyone's guess. Anyways it's good that the game is selling copies...but that doesn't make the game better in comparison to older ones...because yes people will blindly buy a game without knowing what's in it. Overall though I'm quite pleased that it got such solid sales...even if it is over several systems...at least some people are taking interest in the game.

Reply to discussion: If people were saying that the newer ones had higher sales totals I'd start seriously concerning myself with their sanity!

Don't worry. Spyro will never again touch the classics totals.

Cooleosis: I understand your post but you do need to break it up into paragraphs or a chart like mine. (as pointed out by ratchet)

Yes, there are defiently factors which might make people buy DOTD more than the Original three , even if it was a worse game, but i don't think it's going to surpass them anyway.

As for the site, game chartz, I'm not intirely sure if there stats are right anyway, it says that the DS copies for TEN sold 0.47m copies, and the PS2  0.21 and the Wii version 0.15. The DS version sold more than the PS2 and the wii version combined?

Re: SPYRO

Yeah I don't think it's gonna come anywhere close to touching the originals...but still did very well regardless....as for the stat sites...Idk really what's what with them...but they don't seem right for w/e reason.

Re: SPYRO

Yeah, DOTDs sales seem WAY too surprising, they could be right, but seeing they surprised like everyone, they might be wrong.

Re: SPYRO

Well...I go to google and look up the new for the game and such...and I think if it did something like break one million copies sold then someone would have reported it or something....but I don't get anything like that....so I am sceptical for right now...

Re: SPYRO

Usually they only count the total sales on one system when they figure a mil. sales because different versions of different games come out on different systems with the same name.

I also have to dought the #'s as much as I'd ike to believe them.

Re: SPYRO

Well...until I see an article about it or some solid source I don't want to assume anything...until then I'm just gonna go with the theory that it has sold moderatly well...

Re: SPYRO

I'll stand by what I said before...it should be a straight to DVD....I think it would be much better off.

Hey guys Spyro's old pentical is back!!!
(Note: Week 7 European totals are out)

Here's what I based this on:

http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=22957

Go to the other systems and count up the totals and gues what you get?

  .25 mil. (Wii)
+.25       (DS)
+.17       (PS3)
+.23       (360)
+.19       (PS2)
---------
1.09 Million Copies Sold init's first 10 weeks (1-11-09)

The sales totals have been steady the last 3 weeks. (after the International sales data stoped streaning to my resource site)

It appears to keep going up at about 100,000 a week!
___________________________________________________
Older games sales totals All Time

Spyro the Dragon:  4.91 mil.
Spyro: Ripto's Rage: 3.52 mil.
Spyro: Year of the Dragon: 3.71 mil.
Spyro: Enter the Dragon: 1.67 mil. (Game rejected after first week)
Spyro: A Hero's Tail: 0.30 mil.
Spyro: A New Beginning: 0.30 mil.
Spyro: The Eternal Night: 0.81 mil. (Wii, DS & PS2 combined)
____________________________________________________
Dawn of the Dragon has eclipsed the 1,000,000 mark in sales for the Spyro franchise for the first time since Enter the Dragonfly. Enter the Dragonfly's sales were based on the fact that people didn't know what they were buying before it was too late.

Any replys are welcome. I'm simply stating the facts. I am a Fan of the Spyro Franchise . Not souly of The Legend of Spyro. You opinions are yours but I ask that you keep attacking messages in your mind. This Topic is made for the simple fact of informing those who want to know. Only react to the facts and please keep your opinions to a minimun. Anything that starts to look like an argumnt is off subject and I ask that you refrain from such messages and simply ignore them if they appear.

With all due respect,
~cornys~

So please do you think yes wohll does not!
If sales figures aufschreibt should be informed in any case is not it?
1. The DOTD figures, Europe is there!
2. When AHT is VGZchartz America pay only the PS2 version of this! No figures Europe and not the figures of the Xbox and Gamecube version because it is fairly primitive, making such comparisons is not it?
3. For TEN are no figures in Europe so you can again do not make comparisons like DOTD!
ETD 4.Bei only the PS2 numbers are not those of the Gamecube version which also nochmal over the 1 million has!
For A New Beginning's just the PS2 numbers from the Americas and keien Gamecube, DS, GBA and Xbox charged. And because Europe is missing the sales figures!
Fairly weak perceptive you see or do here? Do you find it is not something stupid DOTD to pay 8 weeks weeks +8 Americas Europe together to compare with other titles where Europe does not pay or do not know the numbers of the other versions?
This is a weak-witted totall thread really has no more sense to post here. You should look at Vgchartz.com right to look and click on the title ebvor you only read the figures right down and clear!
So please, this has already Sony Fanboys niveau!

Re: SPYRO

Sorry...but I really didn't understand 50% of that whole statement 0.o...If you mean that we are pretty much going overboard with the whole amount of copies sold thing...then tough luck....the game has sold reasonably well just about everywhere.....and despite all its shortcomings it has done surprisingly well...I'm pleased with the results.
