SPYRO

Hey guys Spyro's old pentical is back!!!
(Note: Week 7 European totals are out)

Here's what I based this on:

http://www.vgchartz.com/games/game.php?id=22957

Go to the other systems and count up the totals and gues what you get?

  .25 mil. (Wii)
+.25       (DS)
+.17       (PS3)
+.23       (360)
+.19       (PS2)
---------
1.09 Million Copies Sold init's first 10 weeks (1-11-09)

The sales totals have been steady the last 3 weeks. (after the International sales data stoped streaning to my resource site)

It appears to keep going up at about 100,000 a week!
___________________________________________________
Older games sales totals All Time

Spyro the Dragon:  4.91 mil.
Spyro: Ripto's Rage: 3.52 mil.
Spyro: Year of the Dragon: 3.71 mil.
Spyro: Enter the Dragon: 1.67 mil. (Game rejected after first week)
Spyro: A Hero's Tail: 0.30 mil.
Spyro: A New Beginning: 0.30 mil.
Spyro: The Eternal Night: 0.81 mil. (Wii, DS & PS2 combined)
____________________________________________________
Dawn of the Dragon has eclipsed the 1,000,000 mark in sales for the Spyro franchise for the first time since Enter the Dragonfly. Enter the Dragonfly's sales were based on the fact that people didn't know what they were buying before it was too late.

Weeks 1-10 sales totals (all consoles)  [Totals updated 1-14-09]
-
Week 1: 61,071
Week 2: 81,482
Week 3: 93,081
Week 4: 110,343
Week 5: 138,158
Week 6: 172,801
Week 7: 155,440
Beyond this point there is no data on international sales
Week 8: 95,931
Week 9: 119,073
Week 10: 116,445
-----------------------
Total sales: 1,143,825

Re: SPYRO

Thanks, but I was just stating that you don't seem to know the difference between an opinion and a fact: that first line I quoted was an opinion, not a fact, unless you can find some evidence to back it up ?

Re: SPYRO

Thanks for the all factual post.

I see you are trying to bend the rules. (proof: you only quoted the possably negitive things I said) I'm saying that the undertones break the rules.

also a () means that that is excluded from the text and an optional read. (proof: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&sa=X … is&spell=1    )

With all due respect,

Re: SPYRO

No, my friend, I am not trying to bend the rules. For starters, I only quoted one thing you said, because I read your whole post and had a problem with it, a problem which I thought you should rectify since your post is fairly new.
Claiming that your post is only stating facts while it is clearly opinionated (as demonstrated by my quote) is mis-leading.

Finally, thank you for that insight about grammar rules for parenthesis. I do not see what that has to do with the line I quoted from your original post ?

Re: SPYRO

that line is in parenthisis and is there by a writer's opinion peice that (as said) is optional to read.
It sould be edited out but in this envirnment is mostly accepted as fact (me included)
also understand that you we are posting in a sensitive area. (look around for proof) and (wheather or not you were) I believed you were attacking (as many have taken to opertunity to)

Thanks. Hope we understand each other (I, you included),

And just as a message if any Flame wars are started the moderators will lock the topic as soon as it is brough to their attention. So play nice.

Re: SPYRO

Also keep in mind that while DotD is being sold on multiple consoles, the original three were only available on one.

Re: SPYRO

yes but none the less that many people have bought the game. It's good news for the franchise when it sells a million. Before it was only selling a little less than a hundred thousand. I hope those people will be back.

edit: Originaly meaning the buyers of DotD but I guess the buyers of the 100k or less games too would work.

Re: SPYRO

I really have to admit that those stats shocked me....heck you can't even find the thing on the shelves anymore hmm.....I wonder where most of the sales are coming from in general. Oh well....at least it eclipsed the 1 million mark...that means a lot in game development...

Re: SPYRO

If .30m bought ANB, and .81m bought TEN, that means .51m people started on the second, and if DotD sold 1.09m, that means .58 people started on the third.
That isn't the exact number, but it's at least in the .10m range.  Some people really need to learn the meaning of sequel.

Re: SPYRO

Yeah...
I don't know weather or not the used sales are added into that or not? Dougt it but I'm not sure. I only bought DotD New. Got the other's used.

Anyhow just as a short note in 1998 there wasn't an X-box, Wii, DS or PS2. PS1 was all. Other wise i would say that made the sales are higher for this but PS1 was the only 2nd gen. system out at that time.

I'll give Stormy the last word on that matter though.

Argument on this is on subject so I guess it's fine with me. + Stormy's  a moderator so I guess it is fine with the crew.

Also their release date in the U.S. is wroung I think. Their date says that it was released 8 or 12 weeks ago???

I think it was like October 21st? right?

Re: SPYRO

Yes that was the release date. But I'm not sure if they included that numbers of the games before it or what..they really don't clarify. Seeing as how you just see the picture of the game that it's for DotD...but who knows...

I think it was like October 21st? right?

I believe the playstation was accompanied by the N64 and the Sega Saturn, and as far as handheld goes, probably the gameboy/colour. So the options were there but I'm guessing the originals were on playstation because it had the power to run them, and running off of discs had an advantage over cartridges (can't remember what exactly, but I'm sure space may have been an issue.)

Also people were probably still playing their older systems, not to mention computer gaming taking customers from the console market. All I'm saying is its ridiculous to say that PS was the only console available at the time (it was more than 2nd gen btw, more like 5th if I read wikipedia right)

That and the fact that people these days would buy any trollop, especially if it has a knwn character on it. I'm amazed ANB doesnt have enormous sales due to spyro fans buying it "without knowing what they were getting".
