nah we can give spyro the portal gun from Portal and we can get the cake

Just from his desire to see something completely irrational yet entertaining lol...I think that was the base point of that statement for sure.

Re: What now?

He's making a reference to the game portal - you complete puzzles by firing portals at walls and such. And over the entire course of the game the evil computer voice guiding you promises cake at the completion of the tests.

http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Portal

It's a great game.

Re: What now?

Its funny How the kind of game TLOS is is what Spyro was originally the thing that the Spyro games parodied. an example is how In TLOS they always talmk about destiny like it's really important
A line taken from Spyro 1: "Destiny?, I just wanna kick some ***"-Spyro

Re: What now?

the portal system is a great example of simplicity. Easy to use- fun to find hidden portals or unlock them - and look awesome, specially spyro 2's portals, there's something really cool about them in the 2nd game...

Re: What now?

Re: What now?

Well LoS is just a completely different type of game and style...it's linear and meant for more heavy combat and story driven expectations...while the originals were more free roaming, non story free for alls. I have enjoyed both of the styles...but one thing LoS could benefit from is having a much more open environment and landscape in general.

If they made the worlds larger with more items to find and such...I think the games would do much much better...because it's not fully returning to the old formula...it's just inserting an idea into the game to make it feel much less restricting and more of a just pick up and explore while completing the story itself....

Re: What now?

Heres my list of what i reckons good from both series:

Original

Hub world / Portal system
Big environments
Tones of secret places
Backtracking
Varying gameplay
Humor

TLOS

Epic/ more serious nature
Gives you an idea of the geography
Upgradeable elemental abilities
Establishes species (not just random animal characters)

Then mash that all together into an official original series game

Re: What now?

Yeah if they could combine all of those into a combined effort of some sort they could most likely develop something pretty dang successful...but that is far out of our hands.

Re: What now?

Yeah your right about it being out of our hands - if only the developers would launch some form of data collection from fans, even a poll at the very least.
That way they could take into account the majority of what most of the fans want. - Then nearly everyone would be happy.

I would rather they did not keep the TLOS Story if they did, I hate the gary-stu that new Spyro is, and the clicheness of the whole thing. Go back to the old Spyro for that as while., But an in depth-darker story with still the same personalities of peoples would be ok. everyone doesn't have to be extremely serious and a gary-stu/mary-sue to have a great story!

Re: What now?

It dosent have to be over the top serious- sorta mid way between the original and new stories. Pretty much old spyro with its tones of humor and stuff but just make it make a bit more serious.
