Calling to all Legend of Spyro fans

Guys this might sound weird and cheesy (i hope not) but the game that we love has gone down the tubes and is slowly being reserected. That is great but many of the old fans who would enjoy the new game are left behind wondering when the games are going to get better.
We'll guys as all the fans of the new games know it has gotten about as good as it will. I've gone to some fourms and said something a long these lines and I have gotten 2-3 people who now LOVE the new Spyro as much as me. (unfortunatly i haven't seen them on these forums yet but o'well)
Anyhow as the 'holders of the truth' and the fan base of the new Spyro franchise (one without much funding as yet) the duty falls upon us to spread the word. (I'm going to make this sound epic, lol, I'm serious but still trying to be funny) This is our calling guys! Nothing must get in the way of our quest to spread the wealth of Spyro fans. Should we fail it could be the very game we love. gone for all of eternity.
Go, find game sites that have ratings and player feed back and rate it how you feel (gamespot.com I've got the rating on the ps2 version of DotD up to 9.6 without writing a review (it won't let me))

The new games? I don't like them as much, and I won't support Sierra and tLoS series unless a better trilogy comes out that is a related version of the first 3 ones (or continued)

I think Insomniac do a better job in making games like Ratchet and Clank, Spyro (1,2,3) and Resistance.

Dawn of the Dragon is an awesome game, and needs much more help. I
was looking through the Xbox Live Marketplace for Dawn of the Dragon,
and nothing appeared. At least it shows that I'm online playing it.

Hey, this kid is telling the truth. The Spyro series is slowly going down the
drain, and somebody needs to save it. To my opinion, Spyro games are
better than the newer Zelda, Sonic, etc. games, and we all need to help
save the series. Do as he said and go to game rating websites, put up
Spyro games, and help get those ratings up. Long live Spyro...

i prefer the old games but i will like the new ones as long as they carry on making spyro games hopefully nt like ETD that wasnt a good spyro but i dnt mind as long as teh series keeps on going

(ex. Barny isn't exciting now. lol. (not referencing old Spyro to Barny. I think old ones were good too))

B ) Die

As I highlighted in the original post people don't want to play the old style games any more.

Don't ask for too much guys. Things won't always go the way we want them role with it. I wish Isomic still had it and was making them the old way and everybody bought them. It ain't happening.

I just hope that Spyro doesn't go away forever. That's the last thing I think any of us want to happen.

I do enjoy the Legend of Spyro series as much as the next fan of it...and I also support the older games for what they were as well..but don't try to force fans who were completly content to like the older games more to supporting something they don't want to....I have talked to most of them and they have tried to give the game a chance(at least most of them big_smile ) and they don't enjoy them....some of them just don't enjoy the kind of style that Sierra has brought to the series.

I don't mind it so much...and I will gladly support the LoS series...but many are just fine continuing to support the old games for what they were...and Sierra knew that their style was not going to cater to every single Spyro fan out there...obviously enough. If you support the LoS series that's great...do everything you can for it if you wish to do so...but asking people who just don't enjoy it for what it is to support it is not going to work over very well....and that's just the truth of the matter.

Nice job getting the game up to such a high rating though lol....I don't want to know how many people you have had rate it 0.o...

I would just say yes but that doesn't work so I'm just goig to say yes. I just want the new fans to push it onto people who don't know of Spyro. I didn't intend to turn this subject into an argument. (it happens in forums dosn't it)

Well unfortunetly in most forums yes it does lead to an argument...and seeing as how this forum is the location of a large amount of older fans it's pretty common...but I can see the point you are making. You want fans of the new series to try and spread it around...and yeah that's just fine...it's just impossible to present it only to LoS fans lol..

Some of it could also be the act of kindness. I do stuff for people that I
don't like to do. If non TLoS fans don't want to vote positive on the TLoS
series, the series might rupture and Spyro may not come back... at least
for a LONG time. So he is asking for a helping hand to save Spyro.

We should also put to mind that Spyro will most likely not go back to its
original form and gameplay. Because of the new and powerful game
systems like the Xbox 360, Spyro is taking a more modern route now.

No, I wouln't lower the ratings. If I do rate it, I'll try to be leanient. I won't make it VERY high, but an average/avg high.

I don't want the series to die.

But maybe if we show Sierra that the older ones were better, by lowering the tLoS and making the older ones higher, I think that would give them a wake-up call, don't ya think?

P.S. I haven't rated anything yet so chill wink

They can't go back to the old storyline, it was dying as it was. AHT and ETD were continuations of Insomniac's storyline, and they weren't very good. Personally, AHT was my favourite to play so far, but the story sucked. They attempted to try a new look for Spyro in Shadow Legacy, introducing spells and fighting moves, but it was an epic fail, as I can completely agree.
Hard fact is, people are more interested in fighting/shooting games nowadays (think of the success of the Halo series), so they tried to renew Spyro's image. Apart from a purple-colored dragon called Spyro and a yellow dragonfly called Sparx, the LOS series has no real association with Insomniacs storyline at all. They used Spyro because he was a well-known character and it would draw people in. It was also a re-boot to the series, in an attempt to keep it going because, as I said, they couldn't take the story any further. This Spyro suits the kind of fighting style he has, can you imagine the old version Spyro doing that? No....
So its not completely fair to compare the old games with the new, because they weren't trying to make games like the old ones. Noone can, and its not the genre that's doing well at the moment. It may not have reached as big an audience as the original games did, but if the old games hadn't been created, I'm guessing it would have done very well. Mainly because there wouldn't be all of the old Spyro fans flaming it all of the time.
I don't have any real preferance over the games, I enjoy both the old and the new ones. I agree that more people need to give the LOS series a chance, but at the same time, you can't go around preaching 'we need support' because that will just encourage more: 'Old Spyro was waaaay better than the New One' and 'The New One is exciting and has a good storyline, the Old One had no real direction.' I'm pretty much sick of that lately....

That is exactly the feeling about it that I share as well....the market place was changing and Insomniac wanted to take things a different direction..and use a character that they could continue to build upon for many more games. It wasn't that Spyro was a popular platform and making enough money...because it was....but the limitations that they saw with this formula made them go with the decision to let it rest in peace. Now they have a pretty solid tenure going with R+C....and like said above once more....other companies attempted to work with the same formula....and that didn't do nearly as well...go figure.

Markets and demands are always changing....and Insomniac went the way they did as to adjust to such demands...and have something they could work more with in any sequel that they create. They will not return to the old style of games unless it is sold to another company that would wish to do so...but In all honesty even if they do return to it...it will not nearly be as popular as it was then.

Leave the old series how they are...at least give them that respect...anything else that is made in the future will always be compared to it...but that's what Sierra knew would happen when they created LoS...and even then it still went over pretty successfully. Still let individual gamers make up their own minds on the subject...support the game if you choose to do so....but as far as I can see their is plenty of support for it already...enough to have three games created...one movie or more...and perhaps future games....so LoS is sitting just fine for the moment.

The Score in gamepot is rigged. It's all these TLOS fanboys voting it perfect, just look at the graph, 51% Perfect......WOW.
Now I'm not Saying DOTD is bad, and it isn't, the other Two TLOS games arn't the worse games on the plannet, but none of them deserve anything near an 8. Sorry...

I'm telling It how It is and giving all TLOS games a 5, DOTD a 6, giving it a 10 just to keep spyro going is not what I want to do, as I'd rather spyro doed after SL then go onto this disgraceful trilogy.
In my opinion, Spyro went down the drain 7 years ago, after ETD, and has never recovered but has gotton slowly worse.

People just didn't like the Originals because they were younger, they were generally better games. Longer, More variety in gameplay, not linear, Great story for the time, awesome graphics for the system. Its not just kids eeither, adults liked the originals, they were really fun games.

AHT's Gameplay was bad too, It had many faults, such as having small amount of minigames, levels, change of characters, Unnecesangly hard minigames, no hover, too much backtracking etc. Shadow legacy was just like TLOS and proves that with just gameplay, TLOS is an epic fail.

This is because the 2000s were the born of the 3d shooters, before that they were hard to make and rubbish 2d. Its similar to the 3d platformer boom in the late 90s after Super Mario 64. Yes, there are more shooters and combat games, but that doesn't mean spyro had to follow suit. Platformers sell as well, look at games like Super Mario Galaxy, daxtar or Banjo Kazooie, Platformers that sell VERY well. Beides, judging by the sales TLOS gets compared to the originals, there's no evidence that the combat series sell well.

In fact, TLOS was originally supposed to be a prequel to the originals, but they changed their mind when they wanted to release a sequel to TLOS. So no, they werent creating a reboot in the first place.
Besides, theoriginals story was so open that they could of done almost anything next with the story.

Although i think THat Fighting is stupid for Spyro, TLOS AND the originals, i can immagine original spyro doing combat. Remember, the original spyro was more agressive and hyper than TLOS Spyro, so he defiently could fight.

People don't refuse to buy games because a fan is standing next to a game and saying "this game sucks, booo, booo".
Besides, face facts, TLOS was created after the originals and thats that.

Anyways I was wondering when you would come in and discover this thread lol.....but some of these fans just want to do what they can for the series at hand...and they are witihin their right to do so....do you have to support them? No you don't....and I know you wont....but don't just continue to bash them in this thread seeing as how they just wanted to prove their own point for LoS once out of every argument their is for the originals...

I'm pretty sure that they wont fall for tricks that stupid...just voting time after time after time is gonna be noticed after awhile...and the originals are not coming back unless Sierra lets go of it and gives it to someone who does want to go back to that...but if they do It's not going to be a very good success...let things go the way they will go...in the end all we can do is just go along for the ride.

Hopefully not very long. Most of their games are complete...uh..disaster. Well most.

Atleast Insomniac made some successful games like Resistance and did a bit of R&C.

Insomniac had their own reasons for leaving Spyro behind...and I'm not gonna say them again...but Sierra has done more with it then anyone had plans for it in the past...so in essence we should be happy that they decided to partake at all. It could have been much much worse.
