Who has the most lenient parents when it comes to ratings?
By this i mean who has parents who dont care wheather the movie is rated R or a game rated M cuz when i was 12 my mom went through this lame phase where she wont let me have ANY good games like MGS or Doom or Mortal Kombat and it lasted till i reached 18
so if u think u have it bad just look at my situation and be glad u are blessed with parents who dont care about whats on tv or not!

my mom doesn't care when it comes to video games. She let's me play all the bad stuff. So does my dad. But my mom wont let me watch R rated movies if they have sexual stuff in them. My dad lets me watch any movie I want so I watch all the "good stuff when i'm with him. ![]()

My parents allow me to play whatever, pretty much. I played Halo when I was 9.

Re: Who has the most lenient parents when it comes to ratings?
My parents used to be pretty strict about ratings. They'd have to look up any PG-13 movies I wanted to see online and decided if the content was appropriate for me. I was 15.
Now they don't really care, though.

Re: Who has the most lenient parents when it comes to ratings?
I personally think if a movie says 18+ then you shouldnt be watching it unless youre 18+.
However, they have weird ways of classifying things, so whilst something with coarse language (which a 12 year old has likely already heard) shouldnt be an issue, something with sex scenesor massive amounts of gore, really arent meant for minors.
Take GTA for example, its just not a game i think kids should be playing, maybe not 18+ but at least 15+ would be an appropriate age, im not one of those people who thinks itll warp their minds, but it does introduce concepts which they shouldnt be thinking about... not that they probably havnt the way society is now.

Re: Who has the most lenient parents when it comes to ratings?
When I played Halo for the first time, I sure as hell know that I never had any desire to go murder someone else just because I saw a genetically enhanced supersoldier shoot at aliens.
The first video game I've ever played was Tiberian Sun (Command & Conquer series), a T-rated game, when I was 5. I was smart enough to know that none of it was real and that I shouldn't go around shooting people and all that crap. I doubt that anyone except those who are mentally ill are going to go on a shooting spree just because they saw someone shoot someone else in a video game.

Re: Who has the most lenient parents when it comes to ratings?
My mom used to care what I played but now she really doesn't, and this was around 3-4 years ago. But now I can play whatever I *bleep* please cause im old enough to make my own decisions XD
Australia's rating system is slightly different to Americas we have:
G
PG
M
MA15+
R18+
G is just for general viewing
PG suggests parental supervision for anyone under 15
M is not recommended for anyone under 15
MA cannot be viewed unless under the supervision of an adult
R is restricted to 18 and over
but meh I've broken this a few times, I was playing doom at the ages of 7 and up and watched an MA movie when I was 9 XD

i was actually talking more about the prostitution and pornography industries that are represented in GTA.
but as far as violence goes, halo is very different to GTA in that, in halo youre killing things that are trying to kill you, whereas GTA seems to kindof encourage going on a killing spree or running down as many innocent civillians as possible.
yet again i will repeat, i dont claim that video games make people do stupid things, i thought i covered that in my previous post.

Re: Who has the most lenient parents when it comes to ratings?
Have you guys ever heard of Phantasmagoria? It's a pretty good classic point-and-click horror game, with live action used for both gameplay aspects and cutscenes. It's very infamous for its violent shock value and controversial scenes. There is one scene where the woman you are controlling makes the wrong choice and some monster literally stretches out her face with its fingers and leaves her head a mere mass of red.
Yeah, my mom used to play that game and I would watch... Including all those shock scenes... And I was 7. I even somehow solved things for her when she was stuck.
By the way, since it's an old game, the cheap acting and effects are hilariously bad. There's a walkthrough on youtube with the cutscenes that I can watch for a quick laugh with another friend of mine who coincidentally has an older sister that would play it too and she would watch as a kid.
My cousin also played Conker's Bad Fur Day when she was like 7, and she is perfectly fine.
I guess I'm just not traumatized or influenced by fiction and my mom knew.

Re: Who has the most lenient parents when it comes to ratings?
The most lenient my mother's ever been is letting me see Lord of the Rings at age nine. Cx
My new account is Sora. Please contact me there instead of trying to talk to me on this account!
I have a history of for no apparent reason if I stop going on an account for a week and instead go on a different account I get banned, so I probably won't be able to alter this message. =c

Re: Who has the most lenient parents when it comes to ratings?
I can pretty much say that I saw movies and played games my parents
would NOT have approved of. Heck, even when I was 8-10 years old, my
parents thought water guns were bad. Now they don't care much. I've got
guns from airsoft, dart, paintball, and sometime I will get a pellet and rifle.
As of gore and horror... I think that stuff is a bunch of immature crap
anyways. I disapprove of it just because it's gross and stupid. But then
again, I am a Christian, and live life with the better things, the good things.
Horror and gore isn't entertaining. My parents probaly won't approve of it,
but I can see it anyways because I'm 17 now.
Cool beans?
I played Hunter: The Reckoning with my best friend all the time.
We've been best friends since the day he was born... LITERALLY. There
you have it.

Re: Who has the most lenient parents when it comes to ratings?
My parents don't care too much...In December I'm going to go to a gig for an artist with very explicit songs that not kids my age would hear...described as "psycho sexual killer"...but I luff his stuff so much and even my parents are excited, lol...
And as for movies I don't really like scary movies too much so it's not a problem...and I'm not a huge gamer lol...
Everyone knows I only eat Cynder fangirls.

My parents don't care about ratings. I first played Grand theft auto vice city when I was nine and my Dad bought it for me when I was 10. With movies it's pretty much the same, they don't really care about the rating.

Re: Who has the most lenient parents when it comes to ratings?
My parents didn't really care too much, as long as I watched stuff rated above my age only occaisionally, (not too excessively). I was watching R18+ movies (the Australian system as described by Dragonstar1715) when I was 14-15. Although in addition to that there was a lot of stuff I saw that they didn't know about.
Feel free to PM me anytime if you wish to talk, even if its just to randomly say hello

Re: Who has the most lenient parents when it comes to ratings?
Well, if there was ever a pair of leniant parents, it would have to be one of my friends. Think about this: he was playing GTA; he was three. Think on that. Oh, his parents also let him curse. I heard him use the f word when he was four...
Excuse me. I seem to have to go destroy another evil. They are just popping out all over the place. First the Zerg, then Voldemort...

Re: Who has the most lenient parents when it comes to ratings?
Meh, they don't care much on alot of things. They tolerate minor swearing and they don't want me seeing much sexual stuff, but they don't care about people kissing or any of that crap, or they'll just have me fast-forward and continue. As for violent video games, I'm allowed to play anything, and always have been. My parents know I'm not going to run around blowing up houses or shooting people because of playing a video game.
