Who is your favorite author?
There are many excelent writers out there, like jack london or christopher paolini. I, for one, think jack london was the best writer to ever live. If you've read white fang or the call of the wild, you'd maybe agree.

Ah, douglass adams. A great choice:D
Yeah, I was wondering where the favorite authors thread was. So I decided to make one...
I will give 500 gems to the seventh post. But you have to post your favorite author. and you can't post more than twice just for the gems. But that's up to you...

His books are so ridiculous. Though I never did finish "Life, The Universe, and Everything" because at that point, I dunno. I just wasn't as attached. I didn't grab me as much except for when Agrajag showed up and the whole flying deal. Otherwise I kinda drifted in and out.

Re: Who is your favorite author?

paolini has been listed already (eragon)
he wouldnt be on my list of favourites but i read his stuff, its entertaining and stuff but ive read other stuff which just blows it out of the water, same with rowling and definitely the same with tolkien, tolkien createdan awesome world which gave birth to a lot of modern fantasy but when it came to writing it was too much like reading a history text book or something, it certainly suits the genre but it just doesnt draw the reader in like some are capable of (rowling for instance did this well)
so to answer the question im gonna say matthew reilly, which is odd, cuz i normally read high fantasy (dragons and elves etc.) but reilly's books, whilst definitely fictional, are set in a modern world and a lot of them revolve around the military and real world conflicts, theres fantasy or sci-fi chucked in there, but in a different way
the reason reilly is so awesome is his ability to write action scenes, think of thebest action movie ever and now imagine what it would be like to read about it, most people would consider the idea to be ridiculous and that it would end with a boring piece of writing, but when reilly does it, he does it well. which is good since most of the books are action, youre constantly on the edge ofyour seat (if youre sitting) and thats a good thing

Re: Who is your favorite author?
Oh lord I can't decide. Maybe Terry Pratchett, (writer of the Discworld series) Edgar Allan Poe, J. R. R. Tolkien, Mark Twain, C.S. Lewis, (writer of The Chronicles of Narnia series) Richard Adams, (writer of Watership Down and Plague Dogs) Lewis Carroll, Peter S. Beagle, (writer of The Last Unicorn) Louisa May Alcott, (writer of Little Women) Victor Hugo (writer of Les Miserables and The Hunchback of Notre Dame) Thomas Pynchon (Writer of V.) and Frank and Brian Herbert. (writers of the Dune series.)
I enjoyed Jack London, Barbara Park (writer of Skinnybones) and Lynne Red Banks (the chick who wrote Indian in the Cupboard) very much when I was a kid too.
Oh and I do like JK Rowling for her Harry Potter books, they're fun, but I'm not as crazy for them since they're a huge mix of everything I've read about before with some teenage drama.
