i wish the orldinal spyro will come bac dont u ? i really hopr they do in the future. i loved the spyro music, grapics also i loved the evil trees in mysty bog tooo in spyro 1.

I loved them too. But, they never will, even with all the wishing in the world. They don't make games like they used to, so the style is out. And, second and most important, Insomniac dropped Spyro after Year Of The Dragon, they had had enough of Spyro and wanted to move on. They won't take it back. The new storyline is more succesful than the games after YOTD (Enter the Drgonfly, A Hero's Tail, Shadow Legacy), though even they aren't as successful as the Insomniac Spyro was. So, noone will go back to the old storyline. I'm afraid, those games are gone.... Ask Razz, she knows all about it.

No one's saying (at least not in this thread) that it's possible for the old games to come back. Yes, I wish they would, and yes, I acknowledge that they're going to continue to create TLoS stuff because that's the style of video games now. [/sub]

I'm not really sure about all this "it's written in stone" stuff. Even if it's highly unlikely, it's never impossible, that's just human nature. Conker was always going to be some adorable disney squirrel that went on many G-rated adventures, then they decided right in the middle of already making the game: "Hey, let's satire the hell out of this series, aim for an M rating."

At least it was good satire.

Yeah, I loved the old Spyro where you had to collect stuff and explore loads of different places (maybe thats why I like Okami so much, its like that too) and beat some bosses BEFORE the end of the game. *sigh* The good old days...

yeh i think most people wish the old spyrow ill return but at least we got the old games and the cheats on them wrk ok so u can hav different colour dragons like red and blue green etc its wot i did 4 a while i was waiting 4 a new game after YOTD i completed the game in differen coloured dragons of spyro makes time pass lol

Nintendo should take on the spyro games, they still make great platformers (see mario galaxy) and theyd focus more on making it fun and interesting than graphically pleasing due to the limitations of the wii console

When it comes to Spyro, new is better. I don't need to look at it from another point of view, I grew up playing these games like alot of people and I prefer the new style, thank you.

just thought id add that cuz you conveniantly left it out when stating "new is better"

i still laugh everytime someone says they prefer new spyro, i laugh because to people who really loved spyro the way he was can see that the new games only qualify as spyro games because of the name slapped on the box, apart from that you might as well be playing a magical blue/green polka dotted capybara

the problem with the "new is better" opinion in regards to spyro is that its often based on the belief that what makes a spyro game great is spyro, because honestly the only thing that the 2 series have in common is spyro, and even then its not the same spyro

As I said numerous times again and again. If they suddenly stopped making Mario games, started making these new series called "The Mario Chronicles" where you control some tall, gruff man with messy blonde hair who wears the same clothes as Mario and is a plumber, but also happens to be a hitman... and the only mentionable characters are Luigi and Bowser, both equally different to their old counterparts. No mention of Peach, Yoshi, Toad, or any other endearing characters as they've disappeared without a trace. Your main task in the game? Perform combos with your trusty plunger gun. The story is an exact replica of The Matrix too.

Gee, they're sure not disrespecting what the old games had going for them at all. No siree.

Well, I think TLOS is finished. So what next? People keep on saying they wont go back to the originals, and reading some of Mike Graham's crap suggests that. But they SHOULD because old spyro has alot more things going for him.
Platformers are not in my *bleep*, Look how much people liked Super Mario Galaxy, Ratchet and clank and such.

The New Spyros are terrible games and shouldn't continue, and i think the only reason people want them too is because they like the TLOs characters and storyline. Well The Dark, Cliche storyline wasn't Spyro in the first place, i think you were looking for a total alternate series.
Thats what Sierra should've done, created a whole new Series about a different Dragon, not slap Spyro in the cover and disgrace his name.

I agree. I wouldn't mind TLoS half as much if they had invented a different dragon character, since they mutated Spyro so much that he's totally different anyway.

And then people respond that "Spyro would have died if it wasn't for TLoS". Ugh. It's not the same Spyro, so he might as well be dead.

Wtf is your peoples problems, this right here proves that some people are in denial. The old gamers where going to die and be gone forever, and then when the game gets an actual story and the story is started over and relates nothing to the older games, people freaked out. Why? Change...that's why, don't tell me I'm wrong, I'm not, people FEAR change. It's still the same purple dragon. This is what a REBOOT means, they started the story over. The old games aren't coming back, because they failed. Sorry

Look, if I took TLoS and turned it into a kiddy game where the object is to spell words and solve math problems, would you like it? No? Well, my friend, by your logic, that would mean you are afraid of change. It's still Spyro, after all. See, it says so on the cover.

The old games aren't coming back, because they failed.

Correction: They failed after Insomniac gave them up. There was nothing wrong with the old series.

Just look at the ratings of the new Spyro games on, say, Amazon.com, and then tell me which one fails. =P

Well, I never said I HATED the old series, and yes, there was nothing wrong with the first few spyro games. Also, I never go by what the critics say online, I try it and base the game on my own opinions. Team Xbox game DotD a 5.4/10 and I disagreed, see wut I did thar?

Basicly what I'm saying is, Insomniac gave up, people tried to keep him alive and began to fail(like you said). Then Sierra picked it up and decided they wanted to give it there own storyline, half the fans went ballistic while the other half tried it and liked it, now we have an on going war. I will admit the first 2 TLoS games aren't what one would call "great quality". I did however like what Etranges Libellules did for this game, and found it truly epic.

What point are you trying to get across here, they never said the old spyro never existed. TLoS ISN'T a joke, you just tend to make it look like one, because you think only your opinion matters and that everyone else is wrong, amiright? I'm done with this argument, everyone here is just trying to prove one another wrong, it's an on going conflict, between the old school and new spyro. So, I'm done arguing, I like the Legend series better and that is all based on my experience of the games. Sorry.
