Spyro in Fanboys

Hey guys, one of my favorite webcomics featured Spyro today. I thought it might give some of you a chuckle.

COMIC HERE (Warning: A bit of blood for the last panel)

Also if you're a fan of the new Spyros, please don't get offended, it's all in good fun.

Re: Spyro in Fanboys

The rest of the panels were great too. SIN CITY RUGRATS. And of course second panel makes a reference to THAT comic.

Also I had forgotten about how they dropped the Ghostbusters game for the sake of making more Spyro games, I'm sure that had made a lot of people mad at some point.

Re: Spyro in Fanboys

Pfft.... I sort-of get it. New Spyro = Serious, so we can all relate to him.

It's pretty much the principle of the thing and the expressions at the end are part of the joke. You either find it funny or you don't, I guess it just depends on how you've been reading it. As ontels said, it's being sarcastic in saying "we can all relate to this kiddy-lookin' dragon because he's now serious and everything should be serious to get the point across!" And then he shows us two other sarcastic examples of a typically lighthearted series. Rugrats is supposed to be a parody of Sin City in that last panel.

You can also read the artist's description below the comic to understand his whole take on it. That's how I learned about that Ghostbusters game.

Oh yeah and if it helps, the second panel is parodying another thing at the same time. It's an internet phenomenon by now. It's the last panel of this strip from Ctrl Alt Del, which is a terrible comic but became even more completely terrible when it started incorporating useless drama that even the artist himself didn't know anything about. (the girl in that comic has a miscarriage) I think every single gaming comic at this point has parodied that last panel, haha.

The one with Spyro or the one with the miscarriage? The miscarriage one is from a gamer comic, yeah, that's why it seems so out of place. The Spyro one is also from a gaming comic, although the artist has admitted more than once that he's ashamed of running something so overused, but at least he's unique about it.
