I'm not done with it but.. I am FORCED to type a report about Sarah Palin and I'm not enjoying it. Its due the Monday coming up but I do have to bring most of it tomarrow. ALSO it counts for 25 percent of my grade in journalism! HELP! I HAVE NEVER GOTTEN LOWER THAN A C IN MY LIFE BEFORE! Wat I have so far:

She is an Catholic governor too.

She was in the Wasilla, Alaska city council from 1992-1996.

She was Mayor of Wasilla, Alaska city council from 1996-2002.

She is 34 years old.

History:

So we all know Sarah is McCain’s running mate and yada, yada, yada.

But what happened before all that?

Sarah was the mayor of the Assembly of God till she found out she was pregnant!

So this is what happened:

In 1988, Sarah decided to marry her high school boyfriend, Todd Palin

Todd works for the oil company BP and owns his own fishing business.

They have five kids.

Two sons and three daughters: Track (born 1989), Trig (born 2008), Bristol (born 1990), Willow (born 1995), and Piper (born 2001).

Whatever became of Sarah’s children?

Well, Track joined the US military and Bristol married a guy named Levi and became pregnant.

Sarah’s Religion.

Sarah was born into a Catholic family.

When she was 4, her family joined the Wasilla Assembly of God.

From then on she accepted God our Holy Father into her heart!

She is with abortion though.

Many people hate the fact that she is and protests against her.

It looks like you have a lot of information here. What is it exactly you're having trouble with? Turning it into paragraph form? And looking at your assignment, that's a deeper topic than I ever had to think about when I was in Elementary school.

Well i'm pretty much having trouble with:

1.Getting enough sorces (I need atleast six)

2. Getting enough informatio. (my teacher wants four pages this is only three and I can't find anymore info)

3. My outline (as in conclusion paragraph and that stuff. I don't remember by heart. Gots to find it.

4. I have no clue what a "hook" is

5. I don't know what a "Thesis statement" is either.

And thats it. Plus for some reason, my teacher wants the report lay out like that.

Getting more information shouldn't be hard. Just keep searching the web for stuff. I'm sure there are tons of things from the recent news about Palin.

A good way to get more sources is just to use an Encyclopedia or something like that. Even if you don't get new info from it, cite it anyway. It's worked for me many times.

For your conclusion paragraph all you have to do is restate the thesis, and briefly list the things you have talked about in your paper.

A hook I'm guessing means a way to get the reader to want to read more. Let's say add a question at the beginning, or maybe a quote from Palin.

A Thesis Statement is just basically telling the reader what the paper is going to be about. It tells them what they are going to here in the body paragraphs of the paper.

Uh oh. Make sure your facts are right. She's against abortion, not with it.

Ugh, this reminds me of my research project coming up - 6 pages, 10 sources minimum. But it'll be over both presidential candidates, so that makes it kind of easier.

Some good sources you could use besides the internet are newspapers, magazines, and the tv. Those are probably the next best thing.

And a hook is something that grabs your attention, like a quote. Quotes are my favorite way to start off papers. wink

John Man 1234 is right about the newspaper, it's updated very well. Even though I'm not in the US, our newspaper talks a lot about Obama and McCain.

quick note for thesis

when he says "it says what it's going to be about"

don't say "this essay is about _____"

I mean I see it way too often in people your age.
