Blood Groups?

Does anyone here know what their blood group is?

I gave blood over the Summer Holidays and I just found out what mine is: AB+

I'll give a list of the main blood groups:

O+ (37% of us have this type)
O- (7% of us have this type )
A+ (35% of us have this type)
A- (7% of us have this type)
B+ (8% of us have this type)
B- (2% of us have this type)
AB+ (3% of us have this type)
AB- (Just 1% of us have this type)

There are other little blood groups, these are just the main ones.

I'm not sure whether that's out of the whole world population or just the UK population though! XD The figures were given by the NHS so it could be just UK figures, the groups will generally be the same in the US though, I would think.

Wow, your blood is pretty unique, Phoenix. AB+ is just 3% of the population. I bet it'll be in demand. Erm, I'll ask my parents what mine is when they wake up tomorrow morning, and post mine up.

only the poke and depending on the person doing the needle, the moving ornd to get the blood flowing into the packs. but the process is not really painful it is dull. I bring my mpeg player and listen to music while it takes place (anywhere between 45 minutes too 1 hour) as for me I have O- and give blood alot too support local hospitals although I really hate going into some places such as some church, schools, and dinning areas because it is soo cold when I enter

Not really. They said it would sting a little, though it stung a lot! XD Once it was in it was fine, though I think they put it on a slight angle because it wasn't coming out fast enough. They had to adjust it. Because of that when I had to stand up afterwards I went all faint, twice! Most people adjust to losing the blood quickly, others don't. Needles don't bother me, but the needle is as thick as dried spaghetti, if not thicker. I've probably just put loads of people off now lol!

Cool, O- can be given to everyone! Its the one thats used in accidents where they don't know the victims blood type.

I'll be sure to take music and get someone experienced to do it, then. Hope I don't get faint-headed! Anyway I've found out that mine is O+.

I think I have B+ blood, I never gave blood (except for hospital lab work and when I had double pneumonia back in 4th grade), I have a fear of needles (but not as bad as being point-blank to a flame) so yea.

O+ is what I am. I think I've donated blood twice in my lifetime. Once in high school for community service hours, and another in college because I had time and the poor guy was asking me every day I walked by. Though it gets really annoying when they ask in movie theatres. My friend once said "just tell them you're gay, then they can't take your blood." Heh.

Also, I clot really easily, which is I guess supposed to be good if I'm in an accident or something, but it was annoying for the blood drive people.

o_O I have no idea. Your blood type is determined by little receptors on your red blood cells, not colour. You might be an alien! XD Just kidding....

You have the rarest of the main groups then, DFOKN. The A and B stand for one type of grouping and the positive means you are rhesus positive, which is the second type of grouping. A, B and O are the three main letters you can be. A and B are more dominant than O. So if your Mum was Asomething and your Dad Osomething, you would be A. But A and B are equal dominance, so if your Mum is B and your Dad is A (which is the case with me) then you will be AB. It's all to do with genetics.

I think the doctor or someone at the local hospital might be able to take a sample of your blood and then they'll tell you your blood type after they've analysed it... you could ring up and ask them about it. Or you can donate blood for accident victims, and they'll tell you your blood type. Also, your blood type may or may not be on an old doctor's report, depending on why you were at the doctor's. Alternatively, your could ask your parents if they know.
