youve apologised

the only friends you could have lost due to this would be on this community, as far as i can see there arent many people around here who really give a crap, it happened, and its over, nobody cares, until its brought up again by you or by AntR

there isnt much to understand, you did the wrong thing, your punishment was humiliation and removal of PM priveleges, SR has let you know that you arent getting your PM priveleges back and i explained why you are as much to blame for what happened as AntR

just drop it, the only reason this is such a big deal is because youre making it one, you cant use PMs right now, but soon enough youll be able to use profiles again and post on guestbooks, the sooner we lay the matter to rest the sooner everyone will forget about it and your internet life can get back to normal

Fletch, where exactly is the logic in your explanation? Is humiliation a proper means to an end? Think about what you say next time, because the person you're humiliating is just that, a person, who has the same emotions you do. I've stressed several times: before humiliating someone, think this first, "how would I feel if I was humiliated on such a large scale?"

I'm also guessing you live in the U.S. am I correct Fletch? Does it not state in the Declaration of Independence, the document that truly founded the U.S. not the Constitution, state that every person has unalienable rights, those being "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness?" True, it wouldn't apply to SR, being that he lives in Canada and is thus out of the Declaration's jurisdiction, but the fact is, humiliation is denying her the right of the Pursuit of Happiness, as it's affecting her emotions and personality in adverse ways, preventing her from being happy.

Re: Spyrorocks I apologise

[sub]OK, now this is getting ridiculous.

RD12, it's over. Fletch_Talon is right: the only reason it's such a big deal is because you and AntR keep bringing it up. Everyone else had forgotten about your drama before this thread. I can only see one reason for the continuation of this thread, and that would be because you think that if you continue to argue, you might get your PMs back, which clearly will not happen, so drop it. The less drama on this forum, the better.

Blaze the Dragon, whether it was the proper method or not, that was the punishment. Fletch didn't actually say anywhere in that post that it was a good idea. Also, I don't think the issue was ever intended to be made public. As I understand, he originally posted the picture on the mod forum and showed a couple other people who weren't mods, and it sort of leaked out from there because people can't just let it drop. >_>

As for your "Pursuit of Happiness" thing: I don't think that's exactly what it means. By your logic, he would have to restore her PMs because not having them is making her unhappy. Heck, he'd even have to unban and remod Doppel. He owns the forum and therefore has every right to use whatever forms of punishment he feels are necessary, regardless of whether we as members approve or not. We're all perfectly free to leave if we don't like it.

/me pretends to close the thread.  [/sub]

I've stressed several times: before humiliating someone, think this first, "how would I feel if I was humiliated on such a large scale?"

the logic is quite simple, and here it is, it works
they are people just like me, and they did something they shouldnt do, now how would be the best way to prevent them ever doing it again? humiliation, if you realise how embarassing it is to be caught doing something you shouldnt be, suddenly engaging in said activity isnt so appealing any more

if i was doing something wrong and got humiliated for it im sure id hate it, that doesnt mean i didnt deserve it

I'm also guessing you live in the U.S. am I correct Fletch? Does it not state in the Declaration of Independence, the document that truly founded the U.S. not the Constitution, state that every person has unalienable rights, those being "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness?" uh no... you would be wrong... head south... far south... about as far south as you can go and still sweat in summer

thats right Australia, and yes im sure people have rights yadayadayada, but the fact of the matter is this... actually i wont repeat the point, Stormy already mentioned it, punishment isnt sposed to make you happy, but punishment is also an integral part of society, it lets you know youve done something wrong, and in a best case scenario it will make you stop and think before doing it again

Fletch didn't actually say anywhere in that post that it was a good idea.

eh... it was implied, i do think it was a good thing that it was put out in the semi-public eye, for the reasons i outlined above

its a good lesson for both of them
a) you dont enter adult situations when you are not an adult
b) anything and everything you post online is potentially visible to others, with the possible exception of stuff like messenger programs, personal e-mails and to an extent personal pages like your myspace page (because you are able to choose who can see it)

so if youre going to post it, think about who may be able to see it, and whether or not you should be posting it

Finally, things could be very very worse, ive seen what was written, i didnt ask to, but it helped me understand the situation more, SR could have shown everyone here what was sent via PM, and he could have posted it somewhere for the whole internet to see (and believe me the general internet public eat that kind of stuff up, anything that causes others embarassment makes themselves feel better about their own lives)

but he didnt, he posted it for mods to see, and since the mods are a team whose purpose is to keep the forums and its members in order, i think they had the right to see it
