Hurricane Fay.

I heard that fay might cancel all scools in my area and Miami. It also might cancel my dads flight back here. Is this all true?

Re: Hurricane Fay.

Depends how strong it will get. I've heard it's going to get a little rough.
It should be coming straight into Georgia, but we won't get it as hard as Miami.

Re: Hurricane Fay.

if it comes they probably will cancel the schools and flights. otherwise the plane could crash or someone could get hurt on their way to school.

Re: Hurricane Fay.

Tropical Storm Fay won't be all that strong. Category 1 at most according to the NHC. Nothing to worry about. Just do whatever you do when a tropical storm comes. Board up your windows, etc.

If your told to evacuate, do it. Fay isn't a major threat.

nhc.noaa.gov for more info.

Re: Hurricane Fay.

Fay won't be much but they'll probably shut down schools and businesses for the day, that's standard procedure during these kinds of things.

If school is canceled on Tuesday, I'll have only had one day of school before it gets canceled.

Re: Hurricane Fay.

Haha, today was my friend's birthday and we wanted to go out and everyone kept warning us about the storm! Her mom yelled at us to be back soon because she wanted us to be inside in case Fay came. It was pretty funny because my friend wanted to eat at some Thai restaurant, but when we got there, it was closed. Although it was probably closed because it was a Sunday, it was amusing to hear my friend yell out in frustration "CLOSED DUE TO HURRICANE."

Re: Hurricane Fay.

I'm really glad that I don't live in the south US now...I know this storm isn't going to be that bad, but I had relatives that lived near New Orleans when Hurricane Katrina was going on. I sure hope no other hurricanes come up soon.

Re: Hurricane Fay.

Well, I got off from school today from it.  But it's already passed and I gotta tell you it was very anticlimactic.  It's like it wasn't even here.

Yeah, Hurricane Wilma was way worse... Even though I slept through it anyway, heh. But everyone told me it was loud and the next day a bunch of trees and street signs had fallen and stuff, so I take their word for it.

Re: Hurricane Fay.

Okay... I'll leave Stormy to do the membrating and post my opinion on the above post.

Anyways, I'd imagine house insurance in Florida to be quite expensive? (Someone please answer this, I've always wanted to know, with the constant hurricanes and whatnot.)

Ehem. Anyway, I lived in Florida until I was about three. Sometimes I'm glad we moved so we're not in the way of hurricanes.

I imagine it probably would be, though, A Guy. [/sub]

Re: Hurricane Fay.

Yes, it is expensive, and yes it's because of the hurricanes.

Nah, it was a common internet meme at the time Wilma was around. YTMND was full of images of the hurricane with a sound clip of "wilmaaaa" in the background. big_smile

Re: Hurricane Fay.

Yes it was.

Category 1.

Not sure if it's still a hurricane at this point.  I think it's moved away from the water so yeah.
