Beijing 2008 Olympics.

What did you think of the opening ceremony?

I'm watching beginning of it on TV, there was just a whole heap of fireworks in the stadium and across Beijing. I thought it was awesome, especially with the drummers lighting up, and that paper scroll thing where they danced and drew that picture, and the Olympic rings floating in the air, and the all the effects with all those people walking/dancing around etc etc.

As well as the opening ceremony, you can also post other stuff about the Olympics, how your home country is going in sport etc. if you wish.

EDIT: Geez, it seems Australia will NEVER come out. Sure, all the other countries look good in their colourful clothes, but it's late, and... (*puts head on table and goes to sleep*)

Re: Beijing 2008 Olympics.

The opening ceremony was very colorful. Especially the 30,000 fireworks shot off. That was great.
I was really amazed by the drum show and the people in the boxes making waves and all sorts of other things. I can't imagine how much work that took to get together.

Re: Beijing 2008 Olympics.

I thought it was really creative how the final torch bearer was suspended in the air and ran sideways across the whole stadium before lighting the big torch.

I loved it! It was amazing! Especially when they lit the cauldron! I'm definitely rooting for Ireland, and the US this year. XD

w00t I've been waiting for ages! I am quite alot into sport and p.e is my favoruite subject at school. I watched the wicked drums for the countdown. And the way that man ran with the torch, that was the best! Let the games begin! Go Micheal Phelps!

I thought the opening ceremony was amazing. It's crazy what so many people can do if they just put effort into it. I thought it was a great show.

Re: Beijing 2008 Olympics.

I look up to Michael Phelps, after all I am a swimmer as well, but I think there is a bit too much publicity around him. What about all of the other awesome swimmers there? Not just in the US Team but in all of them? I'm sure they have interesting stories behind them as well but all the commentators do is say; "Oh, Phelps' so-and-so final is this afternoon" and they talk about the race he did to get it. That's the one sad thing about the Olympics, you could work your heart out to get there and even get into a final alongside Phelps, but does the World remember you? Unless you get a gold medal, not likely.....

Re: Beijing 2008 Olympics.

Well, at least he wasn't selfish about it. He said a couple times i some interviews that he couldn't have done it without his teammates. I mean sure, he's a great swimmer, but the other people need some glory too.
