Logic Puzzle!

There are two lengths of rope.
Each one can burn in exactly one hour.
They are not necessarily of the same length or width as each other.
They also are not of uniform width (may be wider in middle than on the end), thus burning half of the rope is not necessarily 1/2 hour.

By burning the ropes, how do you measure exactly 45 minutes worth of time?

1.)Light both ends of the first rope and only one end of the second.
2.)When the two burning sides of the first rope meet, 30 minutes have passed. Furthermore, one half of the second rope will have been burned, meaning that there is only half an hour (30 minutes) of ignition remaining on that rope. At this time, light the other end of this rope (second rope).
3.) When both burning sides of the second rope meet, another fifteen minutes have passed, giving you a forty-five minute interval (starting from the moment when the first three flares were lit in the first step)

Proportional thinking as I've seen the mulitples of 15 a lot of times on that logic ^_^ Fractions, cheap. Heh.

...analyzing it carefully it looks like the middle part was poorly drawn off from a direct comp paint brush or something...

...I'm definitely sure I see some eyes...
