I don't want kids because I want to travel a lot when I'm older, and it wouldn't be fair for that kid/those kids to have to go with me. I'm not saying they wouldn't like me, just that they probably would want to be able to settle down in one place. Also, I bet it's harder for one person to travel around then for a couple people (mostly kids, depending on how many) to travel around.

I also don't want to get married. I just don't see the point, except if you plan to have kids(which I, as you can see, don't). If the two people have the same last name then there's no fighting over what the kid's last name will be. This probably came from the fact my parents aren't married, so I have two names in my last name hyphenated. It does make it unique to most American last names, but I wish I only had one. =P

Actually I think half the reason I don't want kids is because I'm a girl. XD

I MIGHT want kids. If my husband and I really want to start a family, then sure. But even then I'd STILL be kinda going toward just adopting one. I don't have a problem with kids, I just have a problem with the fact that women in my family have had very LONG, HARD labors. And I don't like the sound of that.

That's not good news for you then, is it? Lol. Perhaps you could have the baby cut out while you are asleep? (I think it's called a Caesarean).

Greth, you submitted two votes. I know I made a mistake with the poll in allowing two votes, but please don't... it puts the result out of whack. Anyway I don't think it's possible to both want kids and not want them? Lol.

I would say yes. I'm not going to specify, I'll get what I get. The pain doesn't last and as my Mum says, you soon forget it. Though I'm way too young for things like this now. When I was little and learned where babies actually came from I didn't want them because I thought, 'Man, that'll hurt!' Never mind what I thought about getting the baby there in the first place! But right now, I don't much care. And reddragon12, I take pride in the fact that women go through the pain personally. Only women give birth to men. In that way, they hold nothing over us.

yeah, you're right, and yes, Raven, I could get a C-section. though, my moms labor for me was only 6-9 hours, it's long, but soem women have like 19 hour ones. OO

but P_F, that is a GREAT point. My friends and I actually talked about that. And I mentioned that men should treat women with more respect, because we could all go on strike and not have any kids, and if we got enough strikers, it would hurt the world population, no? XD But yeah, if I found the right guy, I'd like to have kids someday. (with pain killers of course. XD)

Well, technically, it's not foolproof, as some men can go around raping women, impregnating them.

It's pretty rare for me to be absolutely sure of anything.

It's annoying about all these mums who only have babies just so they can get the 'Baby bonus' ($3000 Australian dollars that parents get from the Government if they have a kid).

It's true that a lot of women don't get treated with the same respect, importance and fairness as men.

In theory, your 'strike' could work. But in practice many women wouldn't join, especially in poor countries, because they depend on having children to help them look after the farm, earn the family money and look after the parents when the parents are too old to look after themselves (no retirement homes in remote African villages!). Or perhaps, in some really oppressive countries like Saudi Arabia, they wouldn't have a choice.

Same here. If I ever did have kids, I'd want to have a stable job, good home etc before kids enter the equation.
