but it's not all for the sake of money it for freedom of religion and safety for the country even if it scares the family so much they could die but then i thought he's doing what he wants to do by protecting queen ad country
I was talking about how countries don't give a crap about the lives of their soldiers, not what they're fighting for.

I care about animals. In fact I have never eaten meat. And I just hate it when my friend just blurts out, "We went rabbiting!". I have to pretend to say I like it but deep inside I'm annoyed.

There is nothing wrong with your friend enjoying rabbiting.

I bet the leaders would think twice about it if they had to do the fighting themselves.

WHy do you have to say that you like it even when you don't? That makes no sense to me. Just because your friends likes something doesn't mean you have to as well.
As for 'fighting for Queen and Country' in this War we aren't fighting for ourselves. True we are trying to fight for the benefit of others but is it really helping? We all thought that getting Saddam Husein out of the picture would help, but has it? If anything, it has just spurred his supporters on to more violence and pushed them to avenge his death. As I've said from the beginning, they have different beliefs and ways of doing things to us. It may well be much more beneficial to just leave them to it. The way we do things, is not neccessarily the way they do it and that may be what is making things worse. We need to get off our high horses and realise that for once 'our' way isn't working and we need to be willing to let others sort things out for themselves.

Hehe, I would and I would love to have a rant at the people in charge. But would that really make me any different to them?

Sorry, but if you're an animal-hugging vegetarian, that doesn't automatically make rabbiting "nasty."

Rabbiting is just another way of getting food. If it upsets you to kill living things, then you should know that plants are living things too.

The line between cruel and necessary is very fine. Rabbits are a massive problem in many places and rabbiting is a way to control their numbers without completely wiping them out.

What I find ironic is that rabbits tend to be a problem where crops are grown, where they eat the very crops that vegetarians use as their food.
Oh, the irony.

I'm vegetarian myself, or actually since the term was recently invented I'm actually a pescetarian, and while I'm not against hunting animals for food or even against eating anything that's not livestock, (IE. Rabbit. I'm actually more for the ethic treatment of livestock, so hunting would actually help it.) I do think it's kind of rude for a friend to blurt out in your face that they're going to hunt rabbits if that kind of thing makes you uncomfortable.

Well, then, you should let your friend know that you have an absolute disdain for hunting and hate it with every fiber of your being instead of pretending that you're okay with it.

Re: Am I the only one worried about the world these days ???????
Sure, that advice would be great for the person that's actually against hunting.
Man, I remember this one time, my friend ate lamb and felt horrible about it, and he came to me and told me the whole awful story about how it was done, (Seeing as we have vegetarians here, I don't want to go into the details.) and he was on the verge of tears and suddenly shouted "I FELT SO BAD BUT IT TASTED SOOOOO GOOD." Normally, I would have said "oh, gross" or something since I'm certainly not for the eating of baby animals, but his reaction almost made me die of laughter. Darn it, how can I take my morals seriously with this guy around?

I can see that the point of killing live animals for food in some countries which are poor is fine but I just hate it when people do it for fun. I've never eaten a slice of meat through my life and I have still survived. You DON'T need a slice of animal fat to help you live! ![]()

Re: Am I the only one worried about the world these days ???????
Aren't you against the cruelty of cows, pigs, chickens, and other livestock though? I'm sure most vegetarians are. If more people hunted for food around here I reckon we'd have less cruelty and factories, mainly because the demand would go down. Although I severely doubt that would happen, seeing as how most of the population don't care how their McDonalds burger was made, but at least someone who goes rabbiting and eats the rabbits in the process is less likely to BUY meat that day.
Although hunting for fun? Yes, I am against that. I do know a lot of people do it to deers with no intention of eating them, and it's awful.

What I do is go to McDonalds and just dispose of the meat. Its getting more healthy now that place. I keep imagining the people in the factory slaughter house, cutting up animals which form are natural wildlife.

Re: Am I the only one worried about the world these days ???????
Um... But if you're buying the meat and disposing it, you're still buying it. It doesn't matter what you did with it, you're still contributing to demand.
And actually, animals that end up in the slaughter house are usually raised on farms, not wildlife. Now, sometimes those farms can be filled with poor living conditions with abusive farmers who don't even let the animals out of the barns or cages, so this is precisely what I'm against.
Oh and if I haven't mentioned it before if people are starting to think I'm some crazed PETA supporter, I'm not, I hate PETA with a passion, but their behind-the-scenes videos are very much factual and sometimes they raise good points.

Hunting is perfectly fine, as long as the animal isn't wasted.
