"Favorite" means alot, and opinions are important.
so I think we shouldnt insult each other because of what our favorites are. First off, sorry in advance, cause this is the school mediator talking, not the Spyro fan.
....This will be my fifth post. Mostly, I have just been crusing the site, looking at what's what, and for the most part, it seems to be a really nice place!
but it seems things got a bit...intense at a few points. For starters, I read the topic "Most overrated character" and "what if Cynder didn't exist" and, what started as an innocent topic turned into an insult frenzy only a few posts in.
now....I'm new here, obviously, so I have no idea if this is a regular thing or something strange to the veteran members also.
If it is the latter or the former, might I suggest you stop...?
yes, we are all living our alternate personas and openly disscussing our thougts and feelings about many a fantasy worlds.
That doesnt mean you're not still talking to other people. Many people weren't drawn into these fights, and a few tried to stop it. But the point is, there shouldnt have been offenders in the first place. I noticed a large amount of insults from "Talon" directed and "Spyro's fan" for "Spyro's fan" simple expressing his opinion.
while I am glad that "Talon" recalled the more...unacceptable comments he made (Ignituistard...seriously, thats a rather elementary school style insult, isn't it?) that still doesnt change the fact that he said it. Opinions...don't hurt others. And if you disagree with the said opinion, you can simply ignore it.
What I am saying is...one of the first topics I read quickly turned into a interesting conversation to a vulgar assault on someone's opinions. I hate to sound like your mother but...If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all.
We are all here because we like this game series, right? then why can't we simple agree on what we like and not comment on what we dislike?
I know this is completly irrelavent to anything about Spyro...so if a mod wants to lock or delete this topic, I understand. I just think it's something that needed to be said.

Neither Fletch nor myself are veteran members, so no, it's not something specific to them ![]()
Anyways, arguments are bound to happen at one point or another, but as for the <insert character here>tard comments... I really don't get them.

Re: "Favorite" means alot, and opinions are important.
Welcome to the forums
.
I have to say...I agree with pretty much all of your post, only...A Guy has a point, arguments are bound to start, because we're all of such different opinions. We just CAN'T always get along, even if we want to (I try my best to unless something really rankles). The topics you mentioned are only minor compared to what has happened before...you don't wanna know about what has happened before on New v.s Old threads >_>.
I try to keep the fights off when they start to get serious, and usually I fail. And so does everyone else except for a Mod/Admin when they try to keep discussions at a civilised tone.
More than anything else, it's annoying as heck to have to bypass several posts of fighting just to answer the original topic's point.
Everyone is entitled to their opinions...I just don't want to hear them. (kidding).

Yep. It was actually pretty fun for a while, before the fights broke out >_>. It got locked after that.

Old vs. New always ends up as a flame war.

While Ar has suggested the ideal way of communicating in forums, all too often that's not how it goes in socially interactive places on the web. We try our best though. So while your two cents is certainly appreciated...
...welcome to the internet.

(Ignituistard...seriously, thats a rather elementary school style insult, isn't it?)
if there was a part of your post that was going to convince me that youre trying to incite more argument, that would be it
but hey, ill give the "school mediator" the benefit of the doubt and tell you to go read everything before you come here spouting more of the same old "fighting is bad kay?" crap, maybe you'd care to explain how ig-ni-tard is any more childish than cyntard/fantard/etcetard
also im pretty sure, though i wont say 100%, that you mean, ignitus' #1 fan, not spyro's, and since according to you i was insulting him for having an opinion, i suggest you go back and read it for a third time, just so i can be sure that you really believe that you know what youre talking about
oh and, welcome to the internet

Wait... Ar Tonelico, are you on Sierra as well? Because on there, I'm Spyro's #1fan(I joined the forum before the new series came out so I couldn't be Ignitus's #1fan at that point
, and I lakced enough imagination to come up with a better username
). If so, then @ Fletch_Talon, that may be why he called me that. But I'm not sure.

Re: "Favorite" means alot, and opinions are important.
[sub]Like bmah said, this is the internet. Under total anonymity, it's natural for childish insults and arguments to break out every once in a while.
Yes, it gets annoying, and it would be nice if it would stop, but this is to be expected on all forums, to all members. The few mods and admins we have can't possibly visit every thread and make sure there are no arguments; that's just unreasonable.
I'd also like to say this: there is nothing wrong with debating if it is done in a reasonable, non-insulting way. The very purpose of many of these threads is to argue, and there's nothing wrong with that. [/sub]
