Re: pit bull ban in ohio right or wrong
Well, to all of you people who think pits are mean, I have a pit, and she's the sweetest animal I've ever met! And trust me, I've met ALOT of really sweet aniamls. If you try to poke her, she just licks your finger. And she's a year old. So, I personally blame the owners that make them mean... ![]()

Re: pit bull ban in ohio right or wrong
yea but the owners already have them can keep them but anothers will be euthanized and no lisense thats another point speicaly for breeders and other who have many you can only have one in your home i think to but i think the lisense would be good idea but the idots inohio dont think of thigs like that but the flaw with a lisense is that almost everyone could buy one so dog fighting will still be an issue an those who have a dog but cant aford theh cost of a lisense will uffer an dog will be killed
English please?
sorry for double posting but yes you have a point boht of you but any animal is never really tame if you think of it cause a husky will do the same thing as a pit bull or even a great dane twice size an weight of pit bulls an will or could kill you if to ban an animal for behavior then all animals should be banned but also pit bulls orignally bred for hunting big game an protecting owners from bears an other animals in the woods
Saying that any animal cannot be fully tamed doesn't really support your argument. So what if they can't be tamed fully? The point is that compared to other breeds of dogs, pit bulls are likely to be dangerously aggressive (level of aggression not safe for the general public). Sure, that young pit may be sweet at a year old (see above post), but that doesn't say anything to what the dog thinks about other people/strangers, especially when she grows older. Remember, the whole issue is regarding public safety, so we're not concerned that she's nice to the owner or close friends.

but that means that the dog is over protective an can be trained to be less agressive look at animal preciant{spelt wrong i know} but on animal planet they save countless AGRESSIVE pitbuls to the shelter and are adopted in up to a month or even a couple weeks

This is your first warning about your icon. It's beyond the size limit. I've already removed it once.

If you're going to have an icon, zizzle, be sure it's no more than 110x110.

Not everything happens in an ideal fashion like you would see on TV. If pitbulls could be trained, well it sure would take a lot of work to do so. And now let's compare this to the main issue at hand: Ohio banned pitbulls on their general aggressive behavior. You say that you can train them to be less aggressive. I'd infer then that the government would be more concerned about public safety, and that you can't rely on the fact that every pitbull owner would take the responsibility to train them to become tamer. Assuming this, safety overrules the ownership of pitbulls because they might be difficult to train and not every owner may bother training them. i.e. if it takes a high amount of maintenance to get pitbulls to become more tame, then such inconvenience would not assure the general public of safety.

Re: pit bull ban in ohio right or wrong
I think the best thing to do, instead of euthanizing animals because of their breed, would be to make it so that if you have a pit bull, it has to stay in your house and you can't have it just run around in the yard unsupervised.
I have a pit bull, and he's aggressive towards strangers I'll admit, but usually only if they come to our house. If we're at the dog park or something he really doesn't do anything to anyone. But I wouldn't have him there without anyone watching.
So yeah, I don't see why they can't just keep the pit bulls in the house where people can't be bothered by them.

Not a point on the ban, itself, but you lot are SEVERELY underestimating the force of small dogs. I happen to have a large dog and a small dog, and I get far more injuries from the small dog than the large dog.
Mass mental scarring, AWWAAAYY!!
You have it lucky compared to my other haunts...
