Advertising?
Hey, I was just wondering is it elligible to advertise a site/forum etc on here? Me and my friend opened a Spyro-Fan Forum, not official or anything - just for the fans and for fun. And, would I be able to give out the link and get members to join?

lets think for a moment
just a moment mind you
you want to advertise your spyro-fan-forum
on a website which is itself a spyro-fan-forum
well lets just pretend for a bit that any of the currently established members here decided to go over to another forum which probably does not/will not have half the population
why would the owner of this forum allow you do that?
but since its highly unlikely anyone would go to your forum since they have this one for any and all spyro (and other) related topics they wish to discuss i dont see any problem with you advertising
oh wait i just READ THE RULES
where it specifically states no advertising unless you do so in your signature, and it still has to be allowed by the admin

From what you just said, there'd be no need in ADVERTISING at all. Advertising is to get people/persons to buy/watch/read/visit/go etc to that certain thing. I know this is a fan-forum, but it probably costs around $120 a year to host the domain. As the one my and my friend made, is an invisionfree forum, hosted on an ipb board - for free. It's there to get users, just as this is - but can still go on either thing. I don't care if ' it doesn't get atleast half the population ' that this forum does, because I'm in no way rivalling this or even attempting to.

Re: Advertising?
Well it depends on what this site's owner thinks.

The answer is no advertising allowed, I believe.

Re: Advertising?
2. Don't advertise.
Creating threads or posts advertising anything is not allowed (Especially other forums). You may do so in your signature (If permission is given by Spyrorocks), but keep it there.

Thanks for pointing that out - but I didn't really advertise. I didn't post a link, I was just asking whether I'd be able to or not, then suddenly some *bleep* flames at me.

Please read my first post before you reply. For a 19 year old, your pretty stupid. I asked whether or not I could advertise my Spyro forum on here - at not one point did I
a) give out a link
b) advertise it in any other way to and/or get members to join
So please, don't act like a hero.

Oh gee, let me try and explain this, hehe, see theres been a really big misunderstanding here.
See, you seem to have come to the mistaken belief that I at any point accused you of advertising. Did I? I'm looking, still looking... no, I'm sorry, you are clearly lacking in your ability to comprehend English, I suggest you either take lessons, or invest in a trip to the optometrists.
Now enough of what I didn't say, here's what I did say (rephrased so as to hopefully prevent further confusion).
It was a stupid question.
Now I'm sure you don't think it was, but I'll explain exactly why it is that you are wrong.
a) Most forums do not allow advertisement of any kind, especially not other forums who compete for the same target audience.
b) If you have no prior experience with forums, try reading the forum rules, if you have a question, try reading the rules first.
c) Before you ask a question, why don't you try thinking it through, again I'll say (in capital letters so you read it this time) WHY WOULD THE OWNER OF A SPYRO FORUM WANT YOU TO ADVERTISE YOUR SPYRO FORUM.
d) Also a repeat, why would anyone here want to go to your forum, when they already have this "spyro-fan forum" for "fans and for fun", for that matter, why do you feel the need to make one, when a rather successful and established one already exists.
The problem never was that you did advertise, its that you even considered it.
So in my opinion, and I'm sure plenty of people will disagree (this is the internet after all) the person who comes out of this looking stupid is you.
I may come out looking like a jerk, but you gave me reason to, have a think about this, if I came down to your new forum and started asking people to come join my forum instead, how would you feel? Just because you asked first doesn't make it better, the intent was still there.
So advice for the future, think before you speak.

I wouldn't care if you came to my forum and advertised yours - I have no control over the members decisions now, do I? Seems like your just trying to make everyone do what your attempting to do: have a go at me for ASKING whether or not I could advertise or not, then proclaim I'm wrong for asking, and even going as far as no one will join.
Now, that was a very nice bit of your english skills, but please, don't patronise me, you just fail.

Re: Advertising?
[sub]My goodness, you two, it doesn't matter!
Fletch_Talon, that was a bit rude of you to point it out in that way; the rules have only been up there for about a week. You could have just given him the quote from the rules and been done with it, and this stupid flame war wouldn't have started.
Now can we please stop this nonsense? The question has been answered; if Aicebo or Spyrorocks could close this, that would be great. [/sub]
