I was looking at a post on here that reminded me of my daemon, so Kona asked me to ask you what is your daemon like? What animal is it? Has is settled? and here's just a little quiz you can fill out about your daemon:

1. What's your daemon's name?
It's Dekonah! Nicknames: Ko, Kona, and "The-mentally-unstable-squishy-black-thing"

2. When did you figure out his name?
At school a few years ago

3. How long have you known him?
a couple years (9 lol)

4. Do you feel better for knowing your daemon?
Yes!

5. Is your daemon settled yet? If not, do you want him to?
Yes he has settled as a black jaguar

6. Is he real imaginative with his forms, or does he just become whatever creatures he feels like at the moment?
He was imaginative before he settled, once he turned into a wyrm (dragon-type thingie)

7. How often do you envision him by your side?
Just about all the time

8. How often does he talk with you?
Every day!

9. If daemons were physical, do you think the world would be a lot different, or more or less the same?
I think it would be different, for one thing it would be practically impossible to be lonely and therefore a more happy world

10. What's the weirdest thing your daemon's ever done?
Influencing me to just about rip some guy's head off when I was in second grade. He was in the form of a vicious bear... I only got to bite the kid, but I still got in trouble big_smile

11. What's the sweetest thing he's ever done?
When my parents forgot my choir performance this year he was there to comfort me.

12. What's a common quote of his?
"Believe in yourself..."

13. Timid or tough?
me...? Timid, Kona...Tough

14. Passive or aggressive?
he's usually passive unless really provoked

15. Serious or humorous?
He's in between. He is serious when needs be and sometimes will just be a total goofball.

16. Does he try to help you figure out the daemons of people around you, or do you both not care much?
We have a habit of judging people's daemons. Whether it's a good thing or bad, depends on the situation. Dekonah's the one who give the suggestions for the type of animal.

17. What's your daemon's most common form?
There was kinkajou, wolf, bat, white german shepherd, Tasmanian tiger, jaguar, hawk, and pterodactyl

18. If he's not settled yet, what would he want to settle as?
He's settled already and we are both pleased.

19. Has your daemon ever touched someone besides you? If so, do you know why?
Never.

20. If your daemon's not talking to you, what is he most likely doing?
Poking my forehead with a paw, being bored or having fun pestering me. (but I like it big_smile )

21. Common eye color?
Violet, orange, silver, platinum

22. Common fur, feather, etc. color?
Usually white, black, gold, silver or dark brown

23. Does he seem to have a deep affection for your friends?
He tends to be wary of my friends, except my best friend whose daemon is his buddy.

24. What's a hobby you both share a love for?
drawing and writing, Dekonah inspires my ideas. and swimming/volleyball

25. What easily makes your daemon get emotional (easily angry, happy, or sad, etc.)?
Any thing that is a pet peeve of mine or his (obnoxiously rude people, abusive people, in-your-face people, etc. Mostly people I guess.)

26. What's your daemon's favorite singer or group? (NOT yours, in case they're different for some reason)
We have the same and we like just about any band there is, except rappers. They just don't appeal to us.

27. Can you name a person your daemon has a dislike for? If so, who is it?
Yes, he's this freakishly large kid named Brian, who kinda stalks me and my friends and he's in my social dance class and he is really rough and abusive. (I think his daemon would be an angry ape... )

28. What seems to be on his mind the most?
nothing, his mind tends to wander, or so he says.

29. If your daemon could have one wish granted, what would he wish for?
He'd wish for daemons to be physical beings in our world.

30. He misses:
Being able to fly in his hawk (or pterodactyl) form

31. Wonders about:
What food tastes like.

32. Wants:
To go build a fort in the backyard... (sounds fun, maybe I'll do it)

33. Is thinking currently:
He is thinking I should go to bed already! (Like I would do that)

34. When's the last time your daemon smiled?
Right now

35. Laughed?
He's laughing at me right now

36. Cried?
It wasn't exactly crying, but it was a sadness for me when my parents didn't come to my choir performance.

37. Said something to another person, even if they couldn't hear him?
A few times, but usually only when he's *bleep*ed off at them. One time he got me to repeat what he said and I was grounded for a month (Ahhh... good times)

38. Does your daemon believe in God?
Yes

39. How would he explain himself to skeptics?
He has no idea and neither do I.

40. What does he seem to be best at?
like hobby wise? I dunno swimming maybe? He helped me learn how to do it. But he is really good at creative stuff like art.

41. What's his favorite sound?
Irish music (whether it be rock or classic)

42. What's his favorite thing to see?
Sunsets, water (like oceans or lakes), movies (:P )

43. Does your daemon seem to be smarter than you? (Weird question, I know.)
Heck ya! He's the one I look to for guidance.

44. Where does he sleep? (On the floor, against you, at the foot of the bed...?)
on my bed and sometimes on top of me when he flops around on the bed big_smile

45. Do you remember the first thing your daemon said to you? If so, what was it?
I think it was... "Hello, I've been waiting to talk to you." Or it possibly could have been "RIP THAT JERK'S HEAD OFF!" (refer to question# 10) lol

46. On that same note, what was the last thing he said?
he laughed at me so... "haha" I think would be his exact words. lol

47. If your daemon was a human, what kind of style would he have? (Goth, punk, prep, jock, etc.)
Possibly..."normal" nothing too extraordinary about him, he'd be a regular kid.

48. What's his overall thoughts on you, his human?
"She's a little shy and not to great at talking to people, but I love her anyways."~ Straight from Dekonah's mouth

49. Do crowds make your daemon nervous, or does he not care, since he doesn't have a true body anyway?
He doesn't care, but they make me nervous so it kind of affects him.

50. What's your favorite thing about your daemon?
His personality and form. It's like a big fluffy protectively fierce teddybear. ( He doesn't agree about the "fluffy" or "teddybear" bit but the rest he does.)

51. Have you told other people about the concept of daemons?
Yup! Right now I'm helping my friend find hers.

whilst i dont like how some people (not necessarily in this thread) take the concept of daemons so far (in that they begin believing that it is real and thinks for itself instead of doing what they want it to) i have to say that "his dark materials" is one of (if not the) greatest series i have ever read, the ending was so strong i actually cried, i read a lot and very few books have managed to invoke that kind of emotion in me.

I don't believe in or support the atheistic concepts of the story, or the daemon thing for that matter, but it's still a great story nonetheless. Anyway, I like to pretend he's real sometimes *embarrassed* but the quiz requires a little more thought than I've ever put into the concept. [/sub]

I dont think theyre real but it woulkd be awesome if they were, so i filled one out. I got bored with the series half way through the 3rd book.
