BETTER Spyro games in the future?
I personally don't like spyro's new look...
I hope in the future there will be better games and a better looking spyro... :-[

Actually, hes more weaker in the new games. In the newer games, he has to really smash and crash to kill his enemies. THe old spyro was so badass and touch that one of his changes or one of his Great flames could kill an enemy, ONLY ONE.

Whats the fun of killing something if all you need to do is attack them once?

Re: BETTER Spyro games in the future?
you find killing something fun, OMG hes the new hitler! (Just kidding, lol)....hmmm, i guess the old spyro just didn't revolve around killing your enemies much, unlike other games.

You know it may sound a bit silly but back then i never thought "Spyro just killed that enemy" i always imagined "man he just gave him some serious whoopin and he poofs away in shame" (yea the concept of actually killing in such games still seems odd to me)
Well on the topic i too prefered spyros old look, the new one seems a bit too "serious" and his smaller irises looks kinda kreepy in those big eyes... the old Spyro was a cartoon character, his eyes where pretty much "painted on" but this is not a critisicm, it fit the look of the games and the characters charm and besides beeing adorable he could get a serious look on his face too (i also loved the more cartoonish running noise or the "wheel feet" he got while on a speed up strip)... in fact it was just that, such a little cute dragon beeing a world saving hero... and also the little things that made it interesting like how spyro seemed to move his wings like a butterfly when idle
As a side point i dont like all the prophecy storylines much, they are rarely done well and often just feel cheap... i liked when spyro was just a hero by accident (beeing missed by gnastys spell because he was too small, happening to be in the gate while it´s redirected to avalar...)
In my opinion the old formula didnt get old it just got doctored around with too much and eventually led in the wrong direction ultimtly ending in the reboot... and hey look today, while back then there was a "flood" of "kiddy 3D jump n runs" today the market is pretty much free again... i´d say a "classic spryo" wouldnt do harm
PS: I dont know if it was just me having that error but did anyone else noticed spyros eyes where hovering a bit in front of his head in YOTD?

I noticed that as well. I also saw the small changes to the wings and Sparks oversize eyes from Spyro 1 to 2. It seems they don't take all the small details... but I notice them. That includes the scales, wing tips, spiked back, etc. Speaking of which, the wing tips could be put to good use in some way...*Starts to write notes*
I don't care how it looks but how it functions

Re: BETTER Spyro games in the future?
I liked his older look too but as long as Universal owns the rights, they have no reason to change. I liked the (Hero's tail and Ripto's Rage look)
It's unlikely that they'll go back though...

Re: BETTER Spyro games in the future?
Classic Spyro is infinitely better than LoS Spyro. But Universal seems bent on making their characters look like crap... Take Crash for example.

Re: BETTER Spyro games in the future?
Spyro is suppose to look realistic in the new games, and I enjoy the TLoS storyline. Insomniac officially said they won't take Spyro back cause they ran out of ideas for him after YOTD. We all enjoyed the old Spyro, but it was back when we were young and when it was for the old PS1 era. There will be changes everywhere in the future, including in games and its characters. We all just have to get used to it.

Re: BETTER Spyro games in the future?
And yet it's entirely possible for a new company to go back and look at what Insomniac did right, and make a next-gen game still fresh and new, but still feel like the same series. Though I understand why Sierra would make a completely new world with a protagonist that happens to be a purple dragon named "Spyro," but isn't even the same dragon, which is of course, to act like a cash cow. How come Mario has so many good games of different genres? How come Zelda is constantly tweaking its formula, but still feels the same and is a great game series? There are no excuses for everyone that's picked up Spyro to be screwing it up so much.
As for Spyro looking realistic in the new games... With those bulging cartoony eyes and that head, I really don't think so. ![]()

What? You want him having hovering eyebrows like he had in the old days? He was cartoonish back then in the PS1 era, now he suppose to look realistic like a real dragon in the new games without no hovering eyebrows.

Re: BETTER Spyro games in the future?
Sure, I didn't mind the eyebrow-looking eye sockets, in fact I don't even mind cartoony-looking Spyro; it's exactly what I want. However, if you want to argue that the new Spyro is supposed to be realistic, I don't think anything realistic-looking has those big eyes with the tiny pupils and that big of a head. So in fact, even with the new ugly design to make him look more mature, he's still a cartoony dragon.
