Re: [Feedback] "Adult" references on this forum

Well, if someone started and participated in a flamewar about who's the next mod, they will be off the mod list. Why? That alone will make them unfit for being a mod.

Sure, I was a bit unstable about losing that, but I accepted it. Why? Because if for the good of this forum requires me to be put down, then that's ok. I have trust in his decision.

(My english sucks sometimes. Okay?)

Re: [Feedback] "Adult" references on this forum

[sub]I see you put up my rules. I remember writing that, lolz.
Not to be nit-picky, but a couple things might need to be updated....
[/sub]

7. Don’t post large images.
Please link to them. Our dialup users will appreciate it. An image is considered “large” at __x__ pixels or more.

[sub]I put the blanks in because I didn't know the exact dimensions. XD[/sub]

9. Use the report button.
If someone is breaking the rules, don’t correct him or her. Membrating, or member moderating, is not a way to earn respect. If you think something is really an issue, use the report button on the corner of every post and let Spyrorocks, LoneKnight, or myself take care of it. We’ll try to get to it as quickly as possible.

[sub]First of all, I'm not a mod. Second, Razz and Spyro aren't mentioned.

You also spelled "responsibility" wrong, but no one but me cares about that. =P[/sub]

Re: [Feedback] "Adult" references on this forum

Or, you could simply wait until Spyrorocks thinks it neccessary to add another moderator. He hasn't really made a mistake yet, and the mods he's chosen have done a great job. The only real problem is that there are around 12 members online at a time. I rarely ever see any mods beside SR himself. Don't get me wrong, the mods do an AWESOME job, it's just that they are not always online.

maybe if there was at least one mod from each timezone then there wuld probably be a more round the clock watch.

Re: [Feedback] "Adult" references on this forum

That would be a good idea. But it wouldn't really be fair if their were two people that were qualified in the same time zone. For example, I live on the U.S. East Coast. I know that their are several members that live in Georgia that runs in the same time zone as Virginia's. It wouldn't really be fair if you couldn't be a mod because of where you live. It should be based on dependability. If I chose, it would be someone who has been here for a long while, not just on post count. Some people post more than others.

Re: [Feedback] "Adult" references on this forum

i said at least. and some people are on at diferent times than each other in the same timezone. im not saying limit it to one mod per zone... that would be silly.

Re: [Feedback] "Adult" references on this forum

You'd still need reliable people. We have four mods/admin now: (Razz, Spyro, Loneknight, Spyrorocks) but I rarely see anyone but SR on a lot. In my opinion, more mods are needed. Not an overflow, but like 1 or 2. This forum has over 1600 members. Speaking mathematically, (I know many members never post) that's 400 members per mod. I doubt any person could control that many people on their own. I student teach with thirty 11 year olds, it's not easy to be everywhere at once.

(To SR) If you like, you can PM me the IP addresses of potential candidates so I can do a trace to verify their location. smile

Re: [Feedback] "Adult" references on this forum

I'm sure this has been said before, but in addition to finding people that's nice and can act mature, you need to find people that also has either a lot of time on their hands. I don't initially seem to mind being a mod, but then I always remind myself of the fact that I can't promise anyone a consistent record of being on the site, and I hate making false promises that relates to getting something done on time. I'm just afraid that I might not have a good work ethic as a result of that inconsistency.

Re: [Feedback] "Adult" references on this forum

I'm more active now than I was before, due to the fact that I can use my right hand again (the thumb was cut off and added back on, it was on a cast for several weeks). As for new moderators, here's the truth: We only recruit those who show real community initiative, maturity, and dedication. Oftentimes, we get a moderator, and that moderator loses control or breaks the rules or does something else that, had we known of this in advance, we would not have allowed that person to become a moderator. It's been difficult to find and keep good moderators.

I can relate Loneknight. I was born with two thumbs on my right hand. My parents insisted on getting it removed. Unfortunately, I wasn't asleep when they did it. I just got a lot of pain medicine.

I accidently cut my thumb completely off with a knife while cutting something. No pain medicine.

Re: [Feedback] "Adult" references on this forum

Yeah there happens to be 4 "ex moderators" Me, Stormy, DoppelGangerGang, Brom The Wise,

Doppel just so happens to prefer the term *off duty mods* which is a bit pointless tongue seeming we will never regain the moderator status again
