Oh well, again, please read the whole thing.
If he *does* brick the PSP (green flashing light, blank screen, auto-shutoff after 10 seconds) he needs to do the whole thing again.

Tsk tsk. One common cause of mistakes on benheck was over-exitement.
One thing you should be worried is causing a battery fire.
Special precautions must be taken to avoid Li-Ion battery fire up or explosion that can cause serious injuries. This is because Lithium, when comes in contact with water or air's moisture, burns violently. Never try to extinguish such a fire with water!
It also creates highly poisonous smoke.
