Re: no more spyro. no more anything.

We now have the "problem" Global warming... and as all of you know, If it's called "the problem Global Warming", then the Global Warming is the problem. Sp by simply removing the global Warming, we'll remove the problem! Easier said than done.

We first have to deal with the "climate problem". So as with the global warming, we simply removes the climate, at the same time we remove the problem, global warming goes with it, and human kind too!.
Simple and doable.

Humans are humans doom.

Re: no more spyro. no more anything.

Uh oh, I have a rant coming up! xD

About using trash as energy:
- Although recycling trash for energy sounds like a great idea, the process of converting any old trash into energy is probably complex. The cost of maintenance for this system will probably exceed the benefits of saving money by recycling in the first place. For now, a well-maintained landfill is good enough. There are several methods used to minimize impact of the environment. The major problem for having landfills is the fact that no one wants a landfill located near his or her home (N.I.M.B.Y. = not in my back yard). Other than that, landfills are actually pretty safe. Wouldn't it be nice though if my leftovers could be used for making my car go the extra mile. tongue

About global warming:
- It's hard to tell how much of a problem global warming is. If you look prehistorically at past climates, the world has been through a lot of global warming periods even more intense than the one we're going through now (e.g. Jurassic period). The rate at which CO2 is rising is abnormal because of human industrialization, but the high amount of CO2 in the atmosphere is not abnormal in itself. Summary: global warming in the short term may seem problematic, but it's not something new and certainly isn't doomsday.

Thats true, and it'll probably only get worse. But it would suck to live in Zimbabwe, where 'official' inflation is something like 165000 percent, among other things  sad It seems like there's always someone worse off than your own neighbourhood *sigh*

I agree that Hydrogen would be a pretty cool fuel (it burns to make only water vapour!)

There's a fair few good ideas here, but unfortunately none of us are politicians  :'( but we should remain hopeful nonetheless.

Re: no more spyro. no more anything.

Okay, this is an interesting thread, bumped up courtesy of Raven. big_smile I'm going to love ranting around here.

---

My take? I can't do anything to make the economy better, nor I can't force them to, but our option is to ride it out and hopefully make it in one piece. WWIII? No problem! One word: HIDE! If you can't hide, then run!

But then again, let's pray and hope that we don't run into wars. Best way is prevention.

But if there is war, I'm going to hide, and join up my friends (here in the forum, you know who you are wink) and do some majora damaga. big_smile

---

(P.S: Since this is un-related to Spyro and in the range of "Doomsday" stuff, I'm picking this thread up and throwing it to the General Chat. We all love rantage.)

Re: no more spyro. no more anything.

World War 3 wouldn't be a war like WW1 and WW2. It would be everybody nuke each other and everyone dies. During the cold war, the Soviet Union and the United States had enough ammo to blow up the earth 4 times. A major war wouldn't happen quickly. Right now, the only world threats are Iran, North Korea, Pakistan, and Afganistan. China needs the U.S. to even exist. WW3 is unlikely unless things change.

Re: no more spyro. no more anything.

What the world needs is two things: a third World War, and a strong global political party that can unite the world. At this point, we know that Communism doesn't work, and in order to unite so many nations, an Imperial government would be needed. Democracy works to a certain extent, but as the Romans discovered, and as we are discovering today, Democracy does not work to govern such large lands and populations, and it slows down the entire decision-making process. Essentially, if a World War III was to succeed, it would have to happen only when the US, Russia, and China are systematically overthrown with social revolutions. During World War III, at least a third of the population would be wiped out. It's unfortunate, and I'm not in any way an anarchist. However, those two things would have to happen in order for order to be restored to the entire planet.

World War III? No thanks. If killing off a third of the population is necessary to bring the perfect utopian society, then I say no thanks.

Re: no more spyro. no more anything.

Not all, but most. It's unfortunate, but a necessary evil. Scientists have recorded the world's extinction periods, such as the period where the dinosaurs and most other life was wiped out. They predict that the next extinction period will be man-made, and the only thing that we have capable of that is a massive, prolonged war. However, look on the bright side - those who survive will be in a better world.

There will never be peace on earth. As long as there are people, there will be disagreements, and disagreements lead to fighting which leads to war. It's human nature.

Re: no more spyro. no more anything.

its animal nature, we are all animals and we all sometimes find it difficult to supress the instincts we once lived out lives by

the only reason humans are considered any more warlike than animals is because we've become so widespread, and because spiritual and religious people will try and have you believe that we are not animals, yes we do have a bit more control over our reactions than your everyday llama or whatever, but instinct is what drives us in the end, you got supress them forever

i dont see a global government working, the east wont be ruled by the west, the west wont be ruled by the east, the one government that rules world wide would have to have a representative from every culture and belief to be fair, otherwise homosexuals could end up being outlawed or some other law would be passed based on the belief of an individual ruler, or a group of individuals, sure its similar in most countries already, but they are confined to smaller areas, if you dont like the law on gay marriage in texas then go to florida (just making stuff up here, i dont know where it is or isnt legal) if you dont like the american government move to australia, if the dictator of iraq is hassling you, cross the border and try not to get shot... ok the last one is a bad example, but it could happen on a world wide scale and that would be worse

also anyone who disagrees with the government are going to rebel, like DFOKN said there'll always be war, at the very least on small scale

Re: no more spyro. no more anything.

i think its sad that theres no honour in war nowadays, you used to actually face the person you were fighting

im not saying there were honourable reasons for war, but at least if you were going to take part you had to face up to what you were doing, its so easy to press a button or pull a trigger from a long way away, you dont know if youre killing someone male or female, black or white innocent or guilty, armed or unarmed

also it doesnt take a huge amount of skill to fire a gun, not at close range at least, point and click, at least way back in the old days, it would be a bit trickier to kill someone with a bow, you had to consider trajectory, and wind etc. thats why if people want to go hunting i feel they should be using bows rather than guns, (i dont support hunting unless all of the animal is being used, and then only if theres plenty of, or excessive amounts of the animal)

also i admit bows are quite easy to kill with when firing upon an army, its practically impossible to miss

Ever hear of "Pax Romana" or Roman Peace? Ever read 1984? The basis of 1984 is that the government takes over the every-day lives of each citizen, down to making certain thoughts into crimes (known as thought-crime), effectly hammering down any conflict. While I'm not saying this will happen, it goes to show that it's not impossible (nor does history say it doesn't work) and that if there was a singular ruler on the earth, any small factions that stood against it would be crushed by the majority.

Fletch_Talon wrote:

Well, we don't know if a global government would work. Global Communism didn't work because Communism didn't work. We're just discovering now that Global Democracy doesn't work, because Democracy only works when governing small bodies; when Democracy is used to govern a massive, rapidly expanding environment that requiires fast decisions, we get the mudslide that is today's Democracy. A single leader or small group of leaders controlling the majority of the planet would be appropriate. How else do you think so many empires lasted for so long? The Roman empire lasted for over a thousand years. How long has America (the oldest still-standing Democracy) lasted under Democracy? It's not even three hundred years old and it is facing serious troubles.

No, I'm saying that if World War III ever broke out, by the time it ended, around 2 billion (or more) would be killed through the use of our weapons. This is bad, but it would solve the current over-population crisis.

Good news: Survivors may have a better chance of a fresh start.

Bad news: We could be one of the 2 billion. And pollution from radioactive stuff will harm the survivors.
