Re: Clinton out of race
Er .. Banning abortion would never work. People will find ways around that. Its like trying to ban guns.
Don't think you can just get a person on the street to perform that.
You've been to a well funded adoption center. Go to an innercity adoption center and say that again to me with a straight face.
Well, since you asked ...
Have you ever even been to an adoption center? The kids there love what they have. Some don't even want to leave b/c of the bond they form with the other kids! A sudden end to their life is the last thing they want.
Then again, it's hard for many mothers to put their child up for adoption because of the link they form just after birth.

Re: Clinton out of race
the problem with the adoption center argument
ie. "theyd rather be there than dead"
ok, well most of us dont worry about the feelings of insects and plants and other "lesser creatures", why? because they do what they are programmed to do, nothing more or less, they respond to stimuli and dont think about how nice it is to be alive today, the way we (humans) do. now if you ask my opinion, i think a human foetus is much the same, it reacts to stimulus and yes it takes in information in later stages (the mothers voice for example) but can you imagine a foetus actually understanding what death is and whether it would be better off alive?
the thing is i for one cant imagine a foetus thinking anything more than, , thats the parents job to think whether its best to bring a child into the world or not, and its risky to do so even withthe option of adopting because as youve said, mothers can become immensly attached to the child and not want to give it away, that child is then stuck with them, regardlessof how fit they are to be parents.
frankly i think the main religious argument that is given (not inciting debate just mentioning where the debate stemmed from) is from the catholic belief which actually has a specific place for unbabtised children (limbo or purgatory or something) i think its like better than hell but nowhere near as good as heaven, and because of this belief and because an aborted baby obviously hasnt been babtised, people fear for their baby's soul
from a non religious standpoint i relly dont think babtism can be condemned until we find out everything there is to know about how the foetus develops, when it truly becomes more than just a bunch of genetic material, when it becomes more than just a vaguely human form with beating heart, and when it becomes truly aware of whats around it
actually before i finish, theres another situation that should be considered, when a baby has a severe hereditary disease or mutation, i feel that in some cases a child shouldnt be brought into the world when its life is going to be full of suffering, it also affects the parents who have a 24/7 job caring for them and any siblings who may be neglected because their parents dont have time for them

Re: Clinton out of race
Ah, I see what you're thinking.
I wasn't meaning the fetus had a feeling, I was actually thinking of the child after birth and brought into the world. So with the heart and all. :-P
I understand how you see that, and I respect that. I just see it differently. ![]()

Re: Clinton out of race
fair enough, like i said earlier, i feel it should be the choice of those involved, nobody should have the right to condemn you for having and abortion and of course nobody has the right to force you to have an abortion (obviously i mean if/when you have a wife/girlfriend)
though ill admit the second of those 2 would be the greater of 2 evils

Actually, yeah, that's what goes on in places where abortion is banned. You can't imagine how dangerous that is.
You've been to a well funded adoption center. Go to an innercity adoption center and say that again to me with a straight face.

You've been to one adoption center, and a well-funded one at that? No, I haven't been to adoption centers, but I've read about them, and heard about them from people I know who have been there.
Tell me, would you rather be dead before you were alive, or at a terrible adoption center with no hope of ever being adopted, very little food, a small bed for you (as you wouldn't get your own room) living in absolute poverty, meaning you can't buy anything or do much of anything as a teenager, and have a poor education on top of that, to further ensure that you live in poverty for the rest of your life, because you can't go to college with your poor education and lack of money? I'd rather be dead before I was born.

Re: Clinton out of race
Well, it's a gamble really.
You don't know if you're going to be born into an adoption center. You don't know if you're going to live an awesome life. You don't know if you're going to be born with a great talent or a special skill that could move the world. You don't know if you're going to be living in poverty and depression.
I'll take the gamble and go with a life. I'll have more opportunities being alive than dead.

Are you kidding? The country may be in an economic slump but it's not going anywhere any time soon. The US has gotten out of much worse than the dollar going down in value a little and some high gas prices.
In the 70s there was a gas shortage that resulted in much worse gas-related problems, and let's not forget the Great Depression. America still has some fight left in it.
If you read my post, I said nothing about the economy. I said that once this generation takes control, America's govt. will be filled with morons.

I was assuming you didn't mean that considering that's an even dumber statement than the economy being bad.
There's nothing wrong with this generation, I don't know where you're coming from with the government being full of morons.

The govt. will be full of morons by 2040. Freedom is good, but teens and children today abuse this privilage. Although maturity level good rise as people grow older...
The day America ceases to be good is the day America ceases to be great.

Teens and children of any day have abused the privilege. Nothing's changed.

I have an answer to your question. It's because a canidate makes himself sound great like lowering gas prices so everyone votes for them, then they see their mistake and complain about it. That is the American way: Don't do anything about it, just complain.

I know that, however, Bush never sounded great. He won (in 2004) for three reasons. 1) He scared the crap out of people by saying that we'd be attacked unless Bush was President. 2) He and his Republican allies smeared John Kerry's campaign (Swift Boat, anyone?) and 3) He got the Christians on his side by becoming "God's Candidate."
