Ratchet, I honestly don't believe Spyro games are ever going to return to the way they were in the first three games by Insomniac.

Neither Do I, but thats not really the point of this topic.

Hmmmm, its funny how i said "if i recon" but i could manage to get the amount of sales in the first 2 years of the originals and compare it to TLOS?

Yeah, its a discussion topic about the good and badpoints of TLOs and The Originals, its not about whether the originals are comming back or not. not valid much............?

How clear is their laziness? They did the right thing by nuking off their errors and starting anew!

As i've said, there was still alot more for old Spyro, the developers should of just found a fine line between changing the series and keeping the good things.

Dude, Steriotype much? Doppels the one who has been flaming, i was just showing my points, you can like both if you want.....

since the gameplay formula between Insomniac Spyro and Ratchet and Clank is almost identical (with the exception of weapons)

There are similarities, basicly ratchet and Clank is Spyro with hands. immagine if your playing spyro but the powerup gates you can activate everywhere but dont have a time limit but an amount of ammo. Ratchet and Clank like TLOS? Kind of, but not really, there are some similarities (Breaths are kinda like guns, wrench is kinda like combo moves) but there is far more game time and platforming in Ratchet and Clank, Not to mention that the universe in Ratchet and Clank is alot more humourous that TLOS, more like the original universe.
I Actually like Ratchet and Clank the same amount as Spyro, but i dont think anyone cares here.

The point is you shouldn't "blow up" or anything of the like over a video game character. It's always ok to debate a video game character, but there is nothing redeeming about placing such a vested interest in one.

I love the Insomniac games, but I really don't care when the LoS fans keep saying that the ORIGINAL Spyro isn't the "real" Spyro.

Because they're wrong. This isn't a matter of opinion, it's a simple fact. Spyro was created by Insomniac, therefore Insomniac's Spyro is the REAL Spyro. The Legend of Spyro wouldn't even EXIST without the original.

And even though no one except my fellow Insomniac fans are going to agree with me, I still am not going to let a debate (admittedly, it is a good debate, but a debate nonetheless) get under my skin.

yeah see, youre excuse fails for the same reason its been failing every single time youve tried using it

we arent bashing anything, we dont tell you tLoS is crap we say original spyro is good, and in our opinion better, we then go on to say we'd like the original games to be remade or a sequel to be made in the same genre with inspiration from the originals

now doppel, if people voicing an opinion that you disagree with irritates you, take a step into my shoes, and think about how irritating it would be, if not only does the other person disagree with you, but they also seemingly refuse to use evidence to support their arguments and get angry whenever someone dares say something nice about [insert something that isnt tLoS] i hope most people here would agree with me when i say, you dont know irritating until youve been on my side of the argument, and yet strangely enough, ive managed to stay patient most of the time with 2 or 3 major blow ups, seriously, if i can restrain myself (for the most part), you should be able to do so too

Don't get me wrong, I would love to see the old series back but it will never happen. Plain and Simple.

But....who ever said, "i recon if a remake of all 3 insomniac games was released on the PS2, it would seell much weller than ANB or TEN!"

If they did that, they would lose a ton of money. Sales would be terrible and after most people tried AHT and ETDF, they wouldn't even bother with the older games. In the world, around 3000 people would buy the remakes. LOS has sold over 2 million. It would never happen.

i really dont see how you can say that without thinking at least once... "hey, i dont work for sierra, i dont know what im talking about"

you dont know the old series wont come back, even if sierra came out and yelled at the top of their lungs that it wasnt (which they havnt to best my knowledge), that isnt concrete evidence, companies like that change their mind constantly and without warning, not to mention they get bought out or sell franchises to other companies

how the heck would you know how well something would sell, you cant make a bunch of assumptions and actually expect to be taken seriously (well you can but its a bit silly) not everyone has played AHT or ETD, i personally love spyro but have played maybe half an hour of ETD, not because i didnt like it, but because it was harder than im used to and i give up easily >_>

we have whole generations of people who have likely never played the original spyro games, id be willing to bet that there are numerous people who think that tLoS is the first spyro game ever. not to mention that eventually peoples playstations will break or their spyro CDs will scratch, look at what nintendo are doing, virtual console games, they stick old classic games onto a service letting people download them for a reasonable price, and people love it.

What's done is done. I wouldn't like to see the old series return, personally. I've become to attached to T.L.o.S to want to see that kind of Spyro just disappear as though it had never been. And the newer fans would only be confused about why Spyro suddenly degenerated from a dark, combat driven, epic fantasy game into a colourful gem collecting hoarder that spends the day burning sheep and Gnorcs (that was fun big_smile ).
Eh, I just think it's unlikely since Sierra've stated that they like where the series is heading (the T.L.o.S direction.)

i have to agree with one point you made there, now that tLoS exists, it wouldnt be fair on fans to take that away from them. itd be hypocritical to say give me my spyro back and take away someone elses

...Without Insomniac there would be no Spyro.
No original Spyro = No TLoS reboot.
No TLoS Reboot = Now new games.
No new games = NO SERIES EXISTS!!!!!
Get it through your skulls people...
Without the companies There would be no game.
And by company I don't just mean Insomniac.
Even if they hadn't been who started the series..
We'd be having the same argument...

How do you know if sales would be terrible or not? Probably old Spyro fans will hear about it and buy it, especiaqlly if its a pretty well-known company developing it. AHT and ETD were not examples of the originals, ETD was a serious compression on the older games and should not be compared, AHT was a bad chanfge to the originals, not good!

but seriously, 3000? a game like Disruptor (insomniac;s first game, wasn't very well known) sold 200, 000 copies.

Ofcource i would know either but i'm sure that today there are more people who like the originals than TLOS.

I suggest if theydo bring the old series back, they continue TLOS. But unlike mario, Spinoff games with Spyro dont come easily
