McAfee has sent out a notice: IF YOU RECEIVE AN EMAIL WITH THE WORD "POSTCARD" IN IT. DON'T OPEN IT!

Microsoft has declared this the most dangerous virus ever and CANNOT be stopped by any defense firewall. Your hardrive will be wiped clean and can NEVER be replaced.

Again, DON'T OPEN AN EMAIL WITH THE WORD, "POSTCARD" IN IT.

Any virus can be detected, as long as the company "captures" a sample of the virus and creates an MD5 hash (virus signature).

LiveCDs are indestructible to any virus. DD-WRT is indestructible to virus as well.

EDIT: In fact, McAfee themselves has DENIED that they warn of a big virus.

Don't worry Ayumi. It's not true.

The email claims to destroy the Zero Sector of your PC. This is not possible, as there is no such thing as Zero Sector (in the hard drive).

PS3s and Wiis are unaffected as they are not x86/x64.

I knew it was just another way for McAfee to try to make more money. They do this a lot. Thats why if I had a PC, I'd use Norton.

Plus, I salvaged data from "virus damaged" drives. The data is not gone forever, but traces of the data remain and can be used to reconstruct the data.

WRONG. The critical data lies in the Master Boot Record (MBR) and it starts a little later. And if the virus kills the MBR, you can still recover the files.

Sadly, I do have a stupid trojan on the computer. Not from this virus, but from elsewhere. Now I get porn ads and fake anti-spyware ads (rogue ads) that are popping up every time I go into a different web page. I tried everything to remove it, but spent fruitlessly searching five hours later. I don't even know the name of the trojan file I have.
