For those who are considering buying a video game console...

I've noticed that a lot of people have been talking about getting a "new" PS2. I just wanted to inform you on how old PS2 really is. The PS2 launched in 2000. The Xbox and Gamecube were in 2001. Look at what happened to them. Gamecube R.I.P. 2006 Xbox R.I.P 2005. Most game consoles only last around 5 years on the market. PS2 won't be supported for much longer. (Early 2009) If you are buying a new system, get PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, DS, or PSP. However, a new replacement for the DS could be shown at E3 this year.

I would like a WII,and a PS3.(Sometimes I wish they still sold SEGA Dreamcasts.That would be so cool!^^)

Hmm, I suppose most people buy PS2s because 1) it's lasting for a long time and therefore has a large library of games, and 2) it's much cheaper than a PS3.

^ Yeah, those are my reasons as to why I've stuck to the PS2. Wouldn't mind buying a PS3, but if gas prices keep going the way they are, I don't think working over the summer will get me anything special. sad

Yea thats kinda why im trying to save up for a Ps3, because the Ps2 is going to stop haveing newer games and wont be made any more.

Similarly, I'm sticking with PS2s since the backwards compatability issue out here kinda sucks. We're stuck with 40GB models that can't even play anything other than PS3 games and blu-ray movies, and the discontinued 60GB models can provide some support by software emulation but there's some games that won't even play great at all (particularly most of the Jak and Daxter series; not to mention The Getaway, in which my brother has been borrowing my machine to play on for the past week now). That's what worries me more than anything.

I've got both a PS2 and a Wii, but I want a PS3, too.

Because, dangit, I'm probably the world's only Sony/ Sonic and Crash fan. Really, whenever there's a thread on console companies in the Sonic forum, you're expected to either say "SEGA should make consoles again! They were unfairly taken out of the console race! WAH!" or "Nintendo all the way! Because then we could have a Mario/Sonic cross-over! And Mario roxxors and Sonic suxxors."

Both of those cam kiss my a[tweek!] for all I care.

<D i love to bring up this fact PS3s have a .02% chance of failing while X-box 360s have a 30% chance of failing! I love that fact and i love telling people that.

The easiest way to get a Wii is to get a part-time job at like target or Toys R Us and buy one early in the morning with the employee discount. :-P

And an easy way to get a PSP is to buy a bricked one and reflash it.

Another easy way to get a PS3 is to buy one that is stuck in "Factory/Service mode" and hold L1, R1, and "select" , and "square" simultaneously when the security settings icon is selected in the settings menu. This will ask you to enter a code. The codes are either: 5-2-0-2, 2-4-6-4, 5-2-0-2, 8-6-0-4, 0-2-1-9.

A bricked DS can be revived using a parallel port cable. (hard!)

An Xbox 360 in RRoD can be fixed with the towel trick.

im sticking with the ps2 for now but im trying to save up for either a ps3, nintendo ds or a nintendo wii. I dont know which one to get.

I like the Wii because it has the best gameplay... I bet Nintendo will be the first to invent virtual reality games (not the basic helmet ones).

Hate X-box because they have so many problems. The Ps3 has held back so long because they wanted to work all the problems out of it. X-box 360 still has alot of problems.

The reason for the XBox 360's high failure rate is the RoHS Leadless solder. I have worked with leadless solder and it sucks. It is so brittle to work with that a single mistake will cause the electrical connection to break.

Screw leadless solder.
