If someone decided to nuke the U.S.A, Canada would be taken out too. Nuclear radiation. If you want to live in the next hyperpower, move to the European Union.

While the Us has never had an empire on the scale on say britian at its peak or the Mongols under Geghis Khan, yes America has been an empire at periods in its its history by this I mean, it has acquired areas though annexing (adding them) or by purchase. see Puerto Rico, the Midway islands, Hawaii etc,. did you know that the Us covers 3, 794, 085 sq. miles? consider that 3 times the size of the roman empire, which covered about a milion sq. miles at its furthest extent.
