The next REAL Spyro game?

Ok, I need facts. Will there be any Spyro games in the future? I fell in love with DotD. Just tell me FACTS (NOT IDEAS) if you know something! ;D

(and sorry if there already is this kind of topic, I'm a Finn so my English isn't perfect ^^; )

I was so upset when I finished DotD 100/100.  D:
And I wish there could be more DotD styled Spyro games in the future...[/b]

Re: The next REAL Spyro game?

The only thing we know is that the next game will probably be set in the LoS universe, since purpose of the trilogy was to re-establish the characters and their world.

Re: The next REAL Spyro game?

Never. neutral
From now on it'll be all for the money; they won't care if it's an actually decent game.
Why? Because the ending was complete fan service. So was Cynder. The entire game.

Re: The next REAL Spyro game?

I hope it will, but I fear I have to agree with Sora... *sniff*
Maybe we just have to encourage Insomniac to let them take back our purple friend instead of giving it away and letting Blizzard use him for money. Since WoW is also meant for money, I worry about Spyro's destiny...

sad

Re: The next REAL Spyro game?

Woah-woah-woah-woah-WOAH!!! are you even listening to yourselves? If they really do only continue making the games for the money, then they have to make games THAT ARE ACTUALLY WORTH BUYING!!! they may be a bit slow to realize what the fans want, but any company worth it's salt knows that if the product is a piece of crap or way too altered from the original, IT WILL NOT SELL!

sorry about that. for all we know, they may retire spyro entirely.

Re: The next REAL Spyro game?

I find it very sad that people are very angry of how the purple dragon has gotten through a lot of processes for over the years. People may be happy that the series is taken care by Activision Blizzard, while some people are peeved that the company focuses on a long-term department of making one hundred million franchises. Why did they pick up the dragon? Why that decision?

From my point of view, it's because dragons are still epic, pwnish, and amazingly beast-like for all these years during our own lifetimes. We even wonder of how those dragons lived, and in what places. Think about the first game in the Spyro series that you played. It's a fantasy that feels just right. To acuminate such a task of bringing him into the consoles, the theme of all of the games, the originals, and the legend series, is fantasy. Another reason is that (if you look over IGN, and Gamespot, and other games) there are lesser "seemingly kidish" games than mature games. Exceptions include some of the Nintendo's franchises, Rachet and Clank, and maybe a few others that I missed. In summary: dragons, fantasies (lighthearted or epic), and the core availability to almost all audiences (the originals are rated E while the Legend series are rated 10+) are the main reasons why Activision decided to keep supporting the series. If anyone disbelieves this at first, play the games again. :3 The three reasons just makes perfect sense. ;o

I think Spyro may become a big hit next year, and when it does, it will rival against Rachet and Clank, and Jak along with Crash as part of Activison. IMO.

*awaits for the time to pass by*

Re: The next REAL Spyro game?

I'll speak honestly and from all the experience that I've gained on the subject. As of right now their are no plans that have been leaked or admitted going towards a Spyro game. Even this so called movie seems to be either on the really down low or in limbo.

The LoS series was something that had an amazing amount of potential in it. At the time before it's release, the original games had lost their luster and people were demanding some kind of a change to it, and yes that includes the users of the original games.

The result was revamping the entire scenery as Krome did. I admit that Krome did a pretty decent job with what they did, the story was pretty good and gameplay was decent. Then Krome was thrown out of the job to make room for EL. The game was already in development by Krome so they basically wasted all their time for nothing.

EL started from scratch and produced a very rough and rushed game. Needless to say, it could have been much worse...compared to other rushed games DotD turned out pretty well, but the story was so predictable it wasn't even funny...and now their are without a doubt more Cynder fans then their are even Spyro fans.

That annoys me quite some to a degree. I remember when Cynder use to be the minority and such in terms of a fan pairing with Spyro...now you seriously can't get people to shut up about it.

What do I see for the future? Well let's see....Spyro is in the hands of a company that really has nothing to gain from it. I don't know if they will be able to make something that is worthy of how the games originally were...perhaps if they put enough time into it.

So basically you guys better be praying that they take awhile to produce the next game. If they run with the idea of basing it totally around CYNDER, which is possible seeing as how they know that's where most of the freaking money is at the moment, then I'm going to turn the other direction. Spyro is meant to be Spyro.

Hopefully Blizzard wants to develop it for the better. If I were them, I would create story that does follow up on DotD...but make it with a story that actually draws hardcore games to it. It should be a wide open world with Thousands of things to do and things to complete...and the story should involve one of self discovery for both Spyro and Cynder after admitting all this bogus stuff they did in DotD after knowing each other for perhaps a week.

A dark and complete storyline with much more solid gameplay in terms of both the characters individually and the world in which they live. You should be able to interact with many dragons and characters while engrossed in a very deep and telling storyline.

But we will see, very possible that Blizzard will do nothing with the franchise...or they could try to better it. We will see within the next two years I'm sure.

Re: The next REAL Spyro game?

i agree with iso. i like that spyro grew up. i felt like spyro grew up with me in a sense hahaha. i liked the new spyro games everything has to change eventually, just like cars that change from the classics so do games as well we just have to deal with it. They wont change spyro completely 360º they'd lose money after buying spyro. why do u think gaming companies keep buying spyro. its because they see potential in the little dragon that no gaming company has unleashed yet. they wont let spyro die cause the fact that a movie is being made about him should make u guys rethink this. As long as companies are making spyro games then its all good cause its worse that they put the brakes on him or if they change him completely like changing his name & or color body then spyro should retire if no one can make him better. im just giving my opinion & don't mean to argue. hope spyro lives on strong

Re: The next REAL Spyro game?

I was playing Spyro: Gateway to Glimmer yesterday. I like TLoS (OK, maybe not DotD, but hey)...but the originals just have so much more fun stuff crammed into them, even if they are on old consoles with poor graphics.

I think I prefer fairytale Spyro to epic fantasy Spyro.

If they totally change him, it will be a bestseller amongst new fans that don't know anything about him. As you know, with a little bit of good reputation, people will buy any stupid game because people say that it's a good game, which can also be biased on Blizzard's means, of course.

Re: The next REAL Spyro game?

I wonder if, after TLoS, Spyro will go back to normal...

Or if he'll just die. sad

Re: The next REAL Spyro game?

i hope they continue to make more games. i just wasnt satisfied with DOTD. the malafor boss was rather disappointing. i would prefer if the game was open instead of the linear stage select.
