Overhauled Mac for Windows Users

This is NOT a Mac vs. PC debate... Those who say anything like that, I ask that you to leave this thread...

Anyway, this is a thread for using applications that are so called 'only for windows' onto a Mac... That is a complete fabrication of the truth, it is possible for ANY windows application to run natively on a Mac (by natively, I mean not using BootCamp).

The number 1 reason why Windows users do not like Mac is not because of the cost, or the OS itself... It's because of the lack of games and other applications for Mac.

For those of you who have a Mac, but leave it in the corner and use your PC all the time, or for those of you who just want to not need to switch to your Windows partition... This thread is for you! Here is a list of games for a Mac...

1. Steam (And all games on it)

This covers... Well most games that people play nowadays... So how do you install this? Crossover! Crossover is a program that allows you to install hundreds of applications designed for Windows... Onto a Mac... And one of the supported applications? Steam! And all games for Steam... Yes, that includes Half-Life, Left4Dead, those MMOs we all love so much, etc.

Screenie of Steam on Mac

2. InstantAction

InstantAction is a browser game that let's you play fast-paced multiplayer online 3d games... In your browser... That's right, IN your browser at 100% speed. FPS games, RTS games, anything.

3. DirectX Games

For those of you that are geeky and tech minded, here is something that you may want to look into. MacDX is an API that let's you convert any DirectX game into a Mac game. What you must do is decompile anything, then install the MacDX API into it.

WARNING: It is illegal to distribute source code if the application is not open source. And it is sometimes completely illegal to even decompile! Do not do this unless you understand what you are doing...

For those of you that want to use a different application on the list, just tell me what it is and I will find a way to get it Mac compatible...

Re: Overhauled Mac for Windows Users

Umm... All macs have right click since... Like 5 years ago.

It just looks like it's one button. Might mouse? It looks like 1 button, but their are actually 2.

For laptops you have a choice of 1 button or 2.

Not really, the only true thing that Mac users have problems with is Steam. And it is pretty easy to get that onto Mac. I don't really know any Windows apps that I want on my Mac other then Steam. Everything that I want is already onto my Mac. T3D, Photoshop, WoW, etc.

Re: Overhauled Mac for Windows Users

I don't want any mac apps, so why would I use another operating system to run apps I can already run nativly? So I can see a picture of a fruit when I start my computer? So I can have a big useless icon bar at the bottom of my screen?

Re: Overhauled Mac for Windows Users

You need to buy another mouse to have the right clicker, the one shipped with iMacs only has one button, I know that for a fact because my grandma bought an iMac a few months ago.

Now now let's not turn this into a flame war please tongue. The whole app thing to me is irrelevant for me because I'm perfectly content with what Windows has to offer and such. I've tried Macs as well and they're great machines but I'm just much more comfortable with familiarity.

Re: Overhauled Mac for Windows Users

Cmon admins stop being so strict big_smile. I would buy a mac but 1) not sure if Mac have the same set up as PC's (who buys computers ... bah) 2) Macs are more expensive  3) Last time I checked you can't LAN windows and Macs together

If that's what you call being strict then it's a good thing I'm not in a bad mood tongue

You mean a Might Mouse?

There's your proof, 5 button clicks. Right, Left, Middle, Left side, Right side...

Really, you shouldn't bag on Macs unless you know what your talking about... Actually we shouldn't be bagging on ANY computer in this thread. I already asked you to stop on the other thread, please make a new thread if you want to, because I want no part of it...
