Re: Please delete this post.

i'm worried for the people who live on poorer countries who get it, but the majority seem to be people in countries that can afford the medicine for it.

i wouldn't worry about it too much.

A large amount of hype to take Americans off more important matters at hand.

Oh, don't fret. The regular flu is more deadly. Thousands of people die each year from the regular flu. Then we get the Swine Flu and suddenly everyone is freaking out. However, there are severe cases in Mexico, but unless you live there you don't need to worry.

The person was a baby.

Anyways, I'm not that worried about it, though cases started to break out in a school close to my school.

That's about as true as it gets right there.

Re: Please delete this post.

...

The swine flu is WAY overhyped.

36,000 people a year have died because of influenza. The Swine flu is just another strand of it. No need to worry about it.

Re: Please delete this post.

Don't freakin panic, just wash your hands, don't drink after people, you know the drill. It is just a flu that is just as contagious as any other flu, the only reason why people are panicking is because it's 'deadly'

Did you know that even today thousands of people are still dying from the Asian flu that broke out in the late 90's? My mom and I got that, and it was a lot worse compared to fever, coughing, and stomach aches. We had migranes, fevers, stomach aches so bad that it felt as if your stomach was gonna burst, vomiting, hot flashes, cold and hot sweats (in about a few hours our clothes would look like we had jumped into a pool), we could barely walk. I'll take a fever and a cough any day. But no one cares about that because it's old news, the media hypes everything up to keep you watching so that they'll make money.

Out of 30 MILLION people in Mexico City, only 149 have died with about 2,000 now sick. Yes that is still bad but not exactly pandemic standards. Just quarinetine everybody!

I'm not really worried about Swine Flu right now. I just see it as another flu going around.

Re: Please delete this post.

I'm not THAT worried, but everyone's acting like that we're all gonna die in some awful plague. The UK government has said that we are prepared for any outbreaks. That's great, but what about those poor souls in Mexico who are dying from it? Their healthcare is nowhere near as good as that of Britain, America etc. In my opinion (and I don't know if the US already are) the richer countries with better healthcare should be helping the countries that are suffering.

There have only been... 3 I think cases of the flu here, so I think, out of millions of people, we are OK.

Re: Please delete this post.

I'm not worried about it. It doesn't sound like it's much worse than a normal flu.

Anyway, you can get updates on the Swine Flu from this site. Apparently it's at pandemic level now.

It's already in my state California and people at school are already freaking out, I mean It already killed over 170 people in Mexico and there are already over 45 people in america that are infected I fear that what some poeple are saying is true this might be the next Plague it might take a while for us to take control of this swine Flu. It won't be easy but sooner or later we will have a cure for it.

Re: Please delete this post.

That's because in Mexico they don't have as good healthcare as we do in America, Canada, and other countries. I'm guessing that the people that died around here were already ill, were really young like a baby, or had no good healthcare and couldn't afford to get medicine.

Re: Please delete this post.

Most of those that died lived in the suburbs around the city, so will have taken a while to get to the healthcare they needed, the boy who was the first confirmed case lived 5 hours away.... So, pretty much what Aicebo said.

Let me lay it down for you:
UK - 8 confirmed cases
US - 109 " ", 1 death
Canada - 19 " "
New Zealand - 3 " "
Germany - 3 " "
Spain - 13 " "
Israel - 2 " "
Austria - 1 " "
Netherlands - 1 " "
Switzerland - 1 " "
Mexico - 49 " ", 8 deaths
Peru - 1 " "
Costa Rica - 2 " "

That is from a map which is updated as the results are processed from the labs. My opinion: Swine flu is waaaaaaay over-exaggerated. This is exactly the same as any other kind of flu, the only reason its so hyped up is because it has genes in it that come from pigs, birds and humans so it is next to nill that anyone will be immune to it. Swine flu is no different to something like chicken pox; when I had chicken pox I had a few spots that were itchy as hell as a slight fever, but I was running around the house bored. But when a friend of mine had a fever, they were tired and throwing up all over the place when she had it. Swine flu'll affect different people in different ways, the boy who was first confirmed to have it had a headache, sore throat and was in bed for three days. Now he is perfectly fine.
Bear this in mind and tell anyone who does go all silly over this whole thing that its no different from a normal flu, just a fancy name.

Yeah the concept of the news is to scare the crap out of you and make you feel insucure.

Actually, WHO states that we're at stage 5, which is a level below pandemic level. Stage 6 is pandemic level, which we're not at yet (well hopefully not at all).

Keep in mind that it's too early to tell the full effects of the swine flu. The Spanish flu of 1918 started off mild just like this situation here. We still don't know a lot about the pig-bird-human flu.

The swine flu has as much of a chance of becoming a plague as Doppel has of coming back here. Thousands and thousands and thousands of people die from the flu. All Swine flu is is another strand of influenza. Nothing to worry about.

The reason people are dying is because Mexico's healthcare is suckish and germs spread easily. The only person who's died in the U.S.A is because it was a helpless infant.

The chance of you getting the swine flu is less than 2%, the chance of you dying is less than .05%
