Year of the dragon glitch: Evening Lake

I found this on the internet and I thought maybe you'd like to try it out. But first you need to have completed the full level of Evening Lake (incuding the cutscene "An apology, and lunch") and you need to complete the level "Fireworks Factory" To save time.

Okay go into Evening Lake and then dive into the water, and swim into "Fireworks Factory". Then when you have arrived, make sure Sparx is yellow before you do anything else. When Sparx is yellow, jump into the lava and keep bouncing/burning and when you have no Sparx and youre just about to hit the lava press pause. (you'll know if you've done it properly because when you've paused it the analog will vibrate.

Then exit the level (via the pause menu) and swim up to the top of the lake, you will be swimming in air. Now the exciting bit. Remember where Hunter pressed the button and fell into the trap ? Well, swim near there and swim over the hills which make up the background. Now swim down and you'll find the room and the cage that Hunter was trapped in ! You can swim in the cage aswell. Now swim to the right and you'll see the inside of the whale ! *ew* Swim into it and you'll be inside the whale. NOTE its impossible to get out of the whale, and the pause is disabled in the glitch so the only way to escape is to restart the PlayStation.

If somehow you DO manage to escape from the whale, pm me and maybe there'll be a little something for your effort smile

i know this glitch its annoying as heck but there is a way to escape the whale give me time to remember how lol tongue

I didnt know it was so complicated to get inside the whale to get the egg. All I did was dive into the pool, swim up to the whale and it swallowed me. And to get out i just swam to the mouth of the whale. o_O But you cant get back in once youve gone out after getting the egg. (the egg name is Jonah big_smile )

I've done this glitch a couple of times. There's a few strange things in the cell/dungeon area. If I remember correctly, some walls were missing, so I wonder how they were there in the video, but not in game.

I've also been thinking of this. I believe after you complete 3 levels in Evening Lake, when exiting the portal of the 3rd level, you see the video of Hunter falling in the pit. Now, what if the level before, you did the Fireworks Glitch? Would you be able to see Hunter down in the cell, because you haven't left the area between the time Hunter falls into the pit.

It also makes me curious about where the location of the Sorcerress' Throne Room and the Dragon Kingdom are located. I'd very much like to explore those places.

This is a difficult glitch to do in my opinion, because you have to pause at just the right moment when you feel the vibration of the controller, but I tried it today and got it to work. It's pretty cool.

No, when you are in the whale, all other game controls are locked. You can't use your guidebook - all you can do is swim around. I have basic knowledge over how most game systems work, and I think you can't leave the whale, because the trigger to leave the whale is a one shot trigger, meaning it only works once. There should be no reason for Spyro to go back into the whale, so the developers wouldn't have made the trigger allow Spyro to leave more than once.

I get it. Thanks. Also, this glitch leads to many more glitches. I heard that if you swim up far enough, you'll go to another version of evening lake. Is this true?

Slapping it 10 minutes away wouldn't make sense for an engine. You'd need to make the frustrum much wider than needed and therefore would require more memory. It would make more sense to put it just out of eyeshot and "loading shot", meaning the bubble that surrounds Spyro inwhich objects load when the come into view when he nears them, when the enter the bubble. You can notice this when gliding from far pertches. As objects get closer, their detail increases, because the bubble has entered the loading shot, or frustrum. I don't know what the use of a collision free version of the level would be. I would think that would be an unnecessary use of polygons and loading...unless they are needed for the in-game cutscenes.

I tried to reach the collision free version of Summer Forest today, after I found out how to swim in air by being zapped by Zoe underwater and glide to the edge of the level and fall down, but the game froze after some minits sad
